Not really. I wouldn't mind seeing them advance, but not just to see them lose.

Cuba's probably going to get to the second round, but they haven't shown me enough to make me think they'll get any further.

 

IMHO, the DR will crush them, and Venuezla will beat them too. Chen gave Cuba problems and he's no Big Z or Santana.

 

They've got great defense and some pitchers with decent stuff, but I didn't see the bats they need to compete. And their guys are in the middle of their season, so you can blame spring training like you can with the MLB batters on the various teams. It'll just get harder for them as the MLB players round into shape.

Yup. And quite painful ones, too.

 

I love the WBC. I don't really care about seeing the US team since I can see those players all the time (except the Cubs players, of course. I love watching them play), but to see teams like Japan, Korea, Cuba, etc., that's fun.

It may not be the tightest game, but Panama is a pretty significant underdog and it's been nothing but back and forth in the late innings.

 

They're finding new ways to hurt themselves.
