What do you guys think of him? I was considering an upgrade, but then I realized his .290/12/58 was all done in just 369 at bats. I know he's in Baltimore, and they have Lopez as well. Will Lopez be DH or what is the situation there? Will he be a solid fantasy catcher this year or should I look for an upgrade?

Catchers aren't all that important, he's good enough.

I think he'll be catching while Javy DH's, or some games it will be the reverse.

Keep Hernandez. He will surpass those ABs with the ability to DH in the AL. He will most likely be more productive in a more hitter friendly home park (and division). Hernandez will be the primary catcher, with Lopez spelling him on occassions. I would guess Hernandez would catch about 100-110 games and DH another 30-40.

Keep an eye on Willingham and Johjima this year. You might even be able to grab one off the wire. I drafted both and am pretty sure one is going to have a surprising season, if not both. Willingham parked a couple today and has the ability to go yard 25-30 times. Johjima has averaged as many in Japan, but most expect him to do less in the US. I realize the pitching is better overall here, but in light of their WBC success, I think we can give them a little more credit now. Johjima put up very big numbers, albeit against inferior pitching, but he did it in very short seasons.

So, in summation, yes I do like Hernandez. But if you're not sure and want to back him up for cheap, grab one of these two.

God, I wish I was in your league...Johjima went in the 11th and Willingham in the 14th in my league. So I picked up Hernandez in the 15th, and very upset that I missed out on Willingham.

Hernandez will do better than Willingham, IMO.

For this year yes, but I was hoping to get Willingham to keep. Actually, I think I kinda lucked out, I pretty happy with Hernandez.
