Other than the need for Al Leiter to pitch again tomorrow, I see no way the US misses the next round.

Whoops, upon review, the runs allowed matter only in games played among the tied teams, not all game in pool play.

 

So Mexico has allowed 2, Canada has allowed 6, US has allowed 8. If Canada loses they can't allow more than 2 runs, which looks kind of unlikely given their bullpen.

There's really no reason not to take it seriously. There is a lot of fun baseball going on. Can the winning team really claim to have the best baseball in the world probably not, but anyone still nay-saying on this tournament isn't watching the games.

 

See, I think it's fun and neat to watch; especially with guys playing for these teams who are relative unknowns. I really do enjoy watching baseball.

 

But...I'm not going to get worked up over it. I'm not going to fly off the handle if certain players aren't in the lineup. If a certain player isn't performing well, I won't jump down his throat; especially considering this is essentially Spring Training. Since that's the case, I'm going to treat these games exactly like I would with Spring Training games.
