Baker Wants Lee and Barrett Back on Off Days

An article in today's trib indicates that when Team USA is having an off day during the tourney, Baker would like to have Barrett and Lee back with the Cubs considering they will be in nearby Phoenix.

He[baker] plans on talking to USA manager Buck Martinez and general manager Bob Watson about using his players in Cactus League games on off-days for Team USA.

Does the U.S. play outside every of American soil? I don't see a problem with that if they're gonna be in Phoenix or somewhere in the west. Eventually though, I think the travel would wear on the players; I don't have a problem with that early in the WBC, though.

Round 1 - Phoenix

Round 2 - Anaheim

Round 3 - San Diego

Phoenix is literally a stone's throw away from Mesa, so I don't see travel wearing on them at all.

I don't think the travel will wear on them and I don't think Dusty is asking too much by wanting them back in Spring Training on off days considering how close they will be to Mesa.

In the midst of all of the concern in regards to players getting hurt in the WBC, I see the guys coming back and getting hurt in Spring Training when they could be with Team USA.
