Baseball Prospectus and PECOTA

Wasn't sure where to ask this, so sorry if its in the wrong place. Is anyone familar with BaseballProspectus.com? Is membership worth it? What the heck is a PECOTA? Does it stand for something? I was looking at the free access portions of the PECOTA player cards, they have some really interesting info on them.

Well I thought Id get some of you guys opinion on the site, maybe someone here has membership and could give me thier take on the site.

For hitters, PECOTA has been very reliable in its predictions.

Basicly PECOTA is just forcasting what a player might do I guess eh? Still trying to figure out what it stands for though lol.

I love my membership. It's some of the best money I've ever spent.

 

I'm not sure if PECOTA is supposed to stand for anything, but it's an interesting tool, to say the least. As Vance mentioned, it's pretty darn good for the hitters. And while you shouldn't take it as gospel for the pitchers, it's a good starting point.

 

Not to mention how insightful the articles can be.
