Since they don't seem to want to answer my email about it. I thought I'd ask here if anybody remembers how many days it took last year after the convention before the audio was posted on the wgnradio site?

Just FIVE SECONDS after I posted this I searhced google for "cubs convention audio" and WGN's site was up I figured it was an old link or advertisement for the "live audio" but sure enough WGN JUST updated to include the convention audio. I know for a fact it wasn't there just an hour ago I just search. .

So I thoght I'd post it incase anybody gets up late like I do, and missed all of saturday's interviews like I did. . . :D

Listen to this and tell me that Dusty Baker doesn't reinforce every negative stereotype about him. He describes Matt Murton as "lucky" while praising the lead-off skills of Marvin Bernard. Meanwhile, he compares his San Francisco Giant teams to the New York Yankees.

Seriously, if you want an essential dose of Dusty Baker, click on the link and expect a ready dose of "hey man" and "it's not my fault".

Seriously, listening to Dusty, is nothing but "hey man" and "it's not my fault".

Dusty also sounds like he's either making excuses all the time, talking "me, me, me", or trying to sell him self in an interview with things like. . . "If you look at my teams, my teams have always been good". . . "I felt really bad, I mean like worse than I ever felt before. I told me wife I mean, I was like really depressed. I never want to feel that way again" (He sounded like he was on a sofa). He also tries to take credit for Matt Murton. Like him sitting Murton out in CRITICAL situations which could have helped the Cubs win, was actually good for Murton. And it's all because of Dusty "slowly bringing him in", to attribute to Murton's success. I'm sorry but what I saw in Murton was NOT a kid that needed time off. He had a smart head on his shoulders and he was ready to play every day last year. Every time Dusty speaks he proves exactly why I despise him so much. .

Actually, the interviews made me like Dusty a lot more, not so much Hendry, but I got a really positive image of Dusty.

Yes. Yes I love excuse making, undue credit taking, feel sorry for me type guys.

Seriously, I liked what I heard about Dusty from the players as well. If you're gonna chastise players, obviously the only way to do it right is behind closed doors. You make Dusty out to be someone that was revelling in his failure. It sounds like he's taken a couple lessons after this season, and he's gonna be playing Murton and Cedeno as starters. I don't think he was taking credit for Murton, I think he was just explaining how he dealt with a guy coming almost straight up from AA, only have like 60 ABs in AAA. Some of the statheads will tell you that Murton was lucky with some of his hits early on. Like he said, Cedeno would have gotten more playing time if he didn't get injured.

He didn't make any excuses. He said he wrongly assumed that players would have such basic fundamentals like bunting and covering first base.

He said his team didn't play up to where he wanted it to be.

I guess I just got a different impression from the interviews.

I don't believe that one. Cedeno was a bench player when he got injured, who was rarely getting starts. I think it's dishonest for Dusty to just say he would have given him more time if he was healthy. Dusty loved playing Neifi last year, and took every opportunity to do so. I don't think he would have bench him for Cedeno for any significant amount of time.

How can he continue to "assume" this? Its been this way ever since he arrived in the spring of 2003. For as much as he talks up wanting to be a fundamentally sound team in the media, it doesn't appear that any of his teams over the past three years have improved at that whatsoever.

I'm not sure that's a valid point. Who has been on this team since he arrived? Other than Wood, Prior, and Zambrano, everyone else has been brought in or brought up.

People actually listen to Kathy O'Malley and Judy Markey??? I've had there thing on for less than a minute and I want to shoot myself in the face.

I only nit-pick because Bernard is my last name and Id hate to share it with him, especially since I live in SF

Does that absolve him from being responsible for how his team plays? Sure, the players themselves ultimately are responsible for their play, but the manager can't sit there and complain about how fundamentally unsound the team has been, especially when he's heading into his fourth year.

Well..seeing that the Kathy & Judy session is really not about baseball and more about the people the players are, and having fun with them, maybe it's just not your cup of tea. As for me, I find this session a must see every year. I find it quite funny and I enjoy it quite a bit.

Of course not. I'd say it comes down to everyone being blamed, especially the players, whom I'm told get drilled in it every spring training. There doesn't have to be a scapegoat for everything.

I don't think he was so much complaining, as he was trying to answer questions. And I believe he's entering into the third year of his contract.

Speaking as someone who sees his last name frequently mangled, I humbly apologize for my error.
