If you are taking issue with the whole "pocket passing" thing and would like to replace it with "drop back and chuck it passer" go ahead. My point remains the same. Culpepper's value is in his arm and not his legs.

I think Culpepper's value is in the dream that he is something he is not.

I reluctantly think the jury is still out. It will be interesting to see how well he plays this year.

The Bears are getting me more upset every day.

Why?

I would've liked to see Brees here.

I would just like to see them pick up someone. We could definitely use a QB, someone like David Givens wouldn't have been bad as a #3 guy behind Muhsin and Bradley. I'd like another linebacker. We definitely need a DB. A kicker would be nice. I don't know, I just don't feel like I'm hearing anything about the Bears making any improvements this offseason. The Bears need help, I'm not calling last year a complete fluke, but that same team probably won't win 10 games next year unless they make some improvements.

When two of their targets are overpaid drastically by a team that constantly overpays for names, it's hard to be upset with the Bears. I'm more interested in them making the right decisions than making quick decisions.

I think this team could win 10 games next year without major improvements. The Bears could sweep their division, and should win at least 4 of those games. They get SF at home, AZ on the road, Buffalo at home and the Jets on the road, all very winnable. The toughest games will probably be Miami at home, Seattle at home and New England on the road and Giants on the road. They should win one of those, and could go 2-2.

I don't agree with that. It all depends on injury. The team stayed healthy for the most part of 05. If Grossman grows with the offense and the young defense continues to improve....they will be a 10-win team. As I have said before, the Bears are in the position where they could stand to improve every position, but aren't in dire need of improving any one position.

Anyone have any interest in Keyshawn?

None, he's a step below Muhsin at this point.

Agreed. He'd be worth looking at for a million or 2, but for what he'll get paid, it's not worth it.

I'm not sure how signifigantly his injury will effect his play. It will limit his mobility, but Culpepper's value is as a pocket passer.

That might be the first time I've heard that statement.

That Culpepper's value is as a pocket passer? At this point in his carrer, I'm not sure how you can say otherwise. I'm pretty sure the Dolphins didn't trade for his ability to run for 400 yards but more for his ability to throw for 4700 yards and 39 TD's.

Ability to do something he only did once 2 years ago when he had the game's best receiver? Culpepper is a drop back and chuck it passer, not a pocket passer.

iirc, moss only played a handful of games that year.

I agree, I'd give him a couple million if he'd agree to be the #3 WR, but him taking a couple of million and being okay as the #3 are two illogical things.

So Culpepper is in Miami, and that would apparently make Frerotte expendible right? Veteran backup for Grossman?

I'd love to get Frerotte. It'd be nice knowing if (when) Grossman goes down, there is a guy who can come in and throw for 250 yards a game.

I'd stay away from Keyshawn. I've never really been a fan of his. I don't really know who's left that the Bears could go after besides the draft. Even with no free agent signings, I have all the faith in the world in this team that they will be a contender next year, anyways.

Word is Denver wants to trade their 2 #1 picks this season since they have very little cap space left for rookies.

Since Angelo loves to build through the draft I think the Bears should jump on these picks. I think the Bears would only have to give up #1, #2 and #4 in 2007 and maybe a #2 or #3 in 2008. This would give the Bears three first round picks this year (#22, #26 and #29) with $25 million under the cap.

Maybe package two of those first rounders and move up to grab Vernon Davis and then a corner with the remaining 1st rounder.

I probably wouldn't give up a #1 in 07. Basically trade the #1 and a later pick for those 2.

I'd give up the #1 in 2007, it's going to be the 32nd pick anyway.

Good way to think about it. I think of it more as players can get injured and the Bears be 5-11 again.

Can't that happen to any team in any season?
