Would Tampa do Prior, Williams and walker for Kazmir, Lugo and Huff?. Cubs then go and sign Weaver as a starter. Just an idea. I'm going to be interested to see how pissed prior is at this convention. I'm amazed at what tampa think they can get for 2 guys who can both walk next year.

I would hope Tampa would do that. But why in the world would the cubs? I wouldn't trade Prior alone for those three. Much less Prior and Williams.

I gotta agree with you on that one. I wouldn't trade Prior for anything less than a huge impact for many years to come. I'm not sure why his name has ever even been discussed in any deals this offseason.

Unless there is something that we aren't aware of, like his arm is currently stapled on with a Swingline. I kind of doubt that.

I haven't heard a whole lot of teams showing interest in Huff. Seems to me like it's Tampa that is set on moving him. Lugo seems to be the guy everyone is after.

From what I understand, the Cubs never mentioned Prior's name in trade talks. It was either Philly, or Baltimore or whoever that brought up Prior and Z. Hendry didn't immediately squelch rumors about Prior in a deal for Tejada, but he wasnt' actively looking to deal him either.

I know, I know - consider the source (MLBtrade rumors). Law of averages says one of these times this guy is going to be right.

Aubrey Huff To Houston?

Got a good one today. I admit I was skeptical at first, but an independent source verified the rumor.

It seems that Arizona, Houston, Los Angeles, and Tampa Bay have some sort of deal in the works. It is known that Jayson Werth and Aubrey Huff are involved, but the other players have not yet been revealed. Apparently Werth is headed to Tampa Bay or Arizona - my sources differ in opinion here.

Both sources indicated that Aubrey Huff will be joining the Astros. Such a move would certainly cloud up the Astros' 1B/OF situation. They'd have Lance Berkman, Jeff Bagwell, Jason Lane, Willy Taveras, Preston Wilson, and Huff. We know that Bagwell may not be able to play, and Lane and Taveras are trade candidates. Huff mainly played right field and first base for the Devil Rays this year.

Haha, an independent source verified the rumor, but he had the main player going to a different team. No big deal.

He called the Cameron for Nady trade. Therefore, he's not due for another one for a long time.

Huff may not be happy in Tampa but he would be even unhappier with the Cubs in a platoon role. He makes 7.5 mill how many players making that are in a platoon situation. If the Cubs would get him he would be in left every day. So unless you don't want to see Murton I wouldn't want to see Huff.

He may end up in a platoon no matter where he ends up, including Tampa.

Tampa has Crawford, Baldelli and Gomes in the outfield, and Travis Lee and Burroughs in the infield corners. That does leave DH, but when Tampa trades Lugo to Boston for Marte, Burroughs will probably platoon at DH with Gomes. Other names that are still possibilities for the outfield also are Gathright, Delmon Young, and BJ Upton.

Huff is probably as good as gone from Tampa prior to the season. And I actually like what Tampa is doing with the team. If they can get Marte and a stud pitching prospect from Boston for Lugo and Gathright, and then get another starter for Huff, they'll have a pretty good team this year.
