I surprised more of the analysts are not talking about the USC/ND and Texas/Ohio St comparisons. Both of those games were pretty close and Texas winning in Columbus is a pretty tough task. I have a funny feeling Texas will match up pretty well with USC and may win by more than 10.

The way I see it, Texas's defense stands a much better shot of stopping USC's offense than the other way around. USC has been giving up points all year long, and for all the talk about the O at USC, Texas puts up points like no other.

I'm pretty proud of the way the Big East played in the bowls. 1-3 but every game was close and I think Louisville would have won if they had their starting QB in there. Not bad for the first year and it's only going to get better.

Hunter Cantwell did a great job for Louisville...he's about as tough as they come. What a way to step up in a pressure situation.

And Marcus Vick is a punk with absolutely no class. How can everyone in the world see him stomp his cleat into Dumervil's calf but none of the officials did? What a loser......

He just got out of prison so maybe he thought Dumervil was going to take his smokes?

I can't believe Syracuse knocked your QB out for the year. :x

Well, I forgive Syracuse....but not the turf...that's what happened to Broehm. His cleat got stuck and that's when he twisted his knee...

Turf shoes....

I agree. I see a big Texas win.

Was he wearing cleats instead of turf shoes like CPatt said?

I think Texas will win as well. All week long Texas has listened to ESPN's love-fest with USC and even the "best team ever" discussions. I think Texas is ready to put it to them..and I will enjoy every minute of it.

I don't know what kind of footwear he had on. But if you watch the replay, the injury was not the result of a tackle. His foot got caught in the grass, turned, and the injury resulted.

These teams all held OSU to less the 600 yards. I don't think it was the talent on ND's D last night, it was the coaching. Minter was outwitted (again) and Tressel had his team prepared to play. I tip my hat to OSU. Good game, and OSU fans, you have a lot to look forward to next year.

Will he be ok for next year? How's the recruiting going so far?

Well, OSU deserved to beat ND, but that was definitely a catch by Gonzalez for Ohio State that was returned for a TD and I can't believe it was overturned. A catch + 2 steps then a fumble is not an incompletion. Also, Ginn's reverse was sprung by an illegal block in the back, and there were at least two blatant holds on the clinching score.

And Musburger is so anti-ND it is ridiculous. He was slurping Troy Smith before the game even started, he was out and out campaigning for the reversal of the fumble but didn't even say anything about Walker's ball crossing the plane even though it was much more obvious, and he didn't seem to know anything at all about ND other than Zibby was a boxer and Quinn's sister is dating Hawk. That was shown when Samardzija had 3 or 4 drops and he didn't say anything, because that was 2 or 3 more than he'd had all season up to that point. In all seriousness, they need to keep him from doing ND vs. Big Ten games because he roots for that conference.

Now that I've vented enough, I don't think ND was exposed as much as OSU was exposed as being a hell of a lot better than most of us thought they were. If they could replay that Texas game it would be a really good one.

Now let's just have PSU and USC win and call it a bowl season.

Musburger gets an idea in his head in the beginning of every game he does and harps on it the whole game long. He's done that for years.

I also thinks this exposes how good Penn State and Texas are.

That illegal block on Ginns reverse was pretty blatant. My roommates, who hate ND, where even saying that ND got screwed on the play. However I will not look at the refs for making a difference in this game. ND got outplayed, no other way around it. No ifs or buts, it was a hell of a season, especially for one that was supposed to be rebuilding. ND is back, and they will be a consistent top 10 team for years to come, IMO. This college season has been more enjoyable than any I can remember in the last 5 years.

The flaw in this comparison is Troy Smith did not play against Texas. Not only that but lately OSU installed more of a spread offense. What you saw yesterday was not the same team that Texas saw the first game.

ND's defense did get whooped worse by OSU offense than they did USC's. Texas has as good an offense as OSU. They should score some against USC defense.

IIRC, SMith was still suspended for accepting 500 from a booster the previous season.

Er wait. He split time with Zwick. He missed the first game and then they split time this game.

It was his first game back from suspension, actually. But Tressel still didn't decide on who would be his starting QB. Smith got some snaps that game.

Wasn't he suppose to be the next great QB? I thought he was one of those big recruits that threw for 1 million TD passes that picked Ohio State?

Something like that, Cuse. But the dude can't even throw a spiral, seriously. His ball wobbles in the air.

Apparently he's amazing in practice though.

He was the 3rd rated qb coming out that year. Higher than Smith.

 He'll be a junior next year right? I can't imagine that he would stay at Ohio State and be a back up until his Senior year because no way is he going to beat out Smith. Unless Smith gets caught accepting 1000 dollars of course and has to sit out another half a game.

Of course I'd take him if he came here. Our QB's were so bad they couldn't even throw to the other team.

Reminds me of Ron Powlus. I think he was predicted to win the Heisman all 4 years. That really panned out. Two reasons why I don't get overly excited about recruiting class ranks. They really can't be graded until at least two years down the road, IMO

Next years premature top 5, on ESPN

OSU

Texas

ND

USC

Florida

If Vince Young returns, Texas has to be #1. I can't see ND ranked that high with that defense. And LSU is in my top 3.
