Anyone here a member of this?

http://www.nationalpitching.net/default.asp?

Sounds like they have good intentions and list some heavy hitters on their advisory board, including Cubs pitcher (or former Cubs pitcher?) Mark Prior.

I'm interested in hearing anything on this association: good, bad or otherwise. And for the coaches out there, real or armchair, what do you even think of the concept. Thanks in advance for your input.

It sounds like a baseball school for pitchers. I like the clearing house of research concept but worry that it will lead to a one size fits all pitching philosophy. Basicly a parent who thinks thier kid is the next Prior will sign them up and then badger the coach of the High School team when something isnt done exactly like it was at "x" camp run by this group.

By the way they also list Dusty Baker as a member of thier Board.

And thus, pitching as we know it ended when all young baseball players started throwing 250+ pitches a day, causing the arms of America's future legends to fall off simultaneously.

pfft. Cy young says all these people are sissys. He had over 400 IP on 5 different occasions during his career. In fact, only 6 times over his 22 year career did he fail to reach 300 innings.

Todays pitchers are sissy's. :)

Thanks for your opinion, Dirt Dog.

I have an eight year old who loves to play baseball and loves to pitch. I'm not ready to sign him up for something like this just yet. I'd like to see where he's at in about four years. If he still shows the same enthusiasm for the game then it's something I'll consider.

I'm not too worried about the one-size-fits-all concept, at least for the younger players. Just watching my son's Little League games and it's obvious to see they need to learn the basics first.

Again, thanks for the input.
