Any interest?

Switch-hitter but he's much more effective from the rightside; he has some very nifty OBP #'s against lefties past three years. Not much power but I love his plate discipline & knowledge of the strike zone -- just what the Cubs need. Good two-hole hitter against lefties.

I know it's a pipe dream to think Hendry would sign him to platoon with JJ (ex-teammate, 2003 Twins), so yes, I'm grasping at straws -- anything to distract me from the godawful Prior-Tejada blockbuster rumblings.

Kielty has always interested me. But, not in a "gotta have him" sorta way, but I wonder who is actually better between the much over hyped Austin Kearns and the little known Bobby Kielty.

Both looked like awesome hitters in 2002. Both have fallen off dramatically ever since.

I was looking over the list of players not offered arbitration, and I didn't see Kielty on it. He's also still showing on the A's roster.

According to ESPN, the only Athletic not offered arbitration was Hiram Boccachia.

So, did I miss something, or is Kielty still the property of the A's?

I read that Kielty was still with Oakland, somewhere. I recall reading that the A's still had interest in Frank Thomas, and if they signed him, Swisher would move back to the outfield, which would make one of their other outfielders expendable, most likely Kielty.

Apologies -- I misunderstood my source. Kielty was indeed offered arbitration (the only A that wasn't was Boccachia, as vance said).

That said, it'd be nice if a deal for Kielty could be worked somehow - either Kielty or Byrnes would be a good fit for the Cubs.

Byrnes was not offered arbitration by the Orioles.
