With the Eaton trade, they currently have a lot of outfielders. Don't see them keeping all of them.

Klesko is moving to 1b. Klesko is absolutely horrible in the outfield. If the Padres want to give up an outfielder, the only one I'm interested in is Giles.

 

If the Cubs traded for Klesko, they'd be better off sticking Lee in the outfield.

Klesko is not going to 1B now with Gonzalez being acquired. The Pads won't have too many OF shortly. This deal today is a precursor to a Dave Roberts to Boston for Wells.

I'll take that bet. Klesko isn't going anywhere and he makes too much money to sit on the bench. He's too horrible to put in the outfield, so Klesko WILL be at 1b. Gonzalez might get some starts against LHP and he may take over at 1b in 2007 permanently, but Klesko will be at 1b.

 

Some team recently asked about Dave Roberts. Towers rejected the deal, saying that he's committed to Roberts because he's the only legitimate lead off guy they have.

 

Someone else is likely to go to Boston for Wells, but I doubt it's Roberts. It would be a bit ironic if they were to switch places, however.

I talked to a Red Sox fan friend earlier in the night who rabidly follows his team. He seems to think that deal will be going down in the near future.
