Wickman re-signs with Indians.

Bob Wickman will return to the Indians on a one-year, $5 million contract, according to The Associated Press.

Wickman likely would have done better in arbitration, but maybe the Indians successfully threatened not to go that route. Wickman will remain the club's closer.

They're lucky no one else tried to swoop in behind their back and snatch him up. He had a very good year last year, be interesting to see if he can keep it going in 06.

I have EI so I would always tune in to see Wicky close down - I kind of liked the Indians anyway. Something about watching him reminded me of those heady Rod Beck days in 1998 - you know a big fat sweaty guy trying to end the game because he's really thirsty for a beer 8)
