Patterson is the most overhyped prospect since Choi

No, Patterson was overhyped much, much more than Choi.

And the frustrating part is that I really don't think CPatt is overhyped. He has the tools and god given talent to become a star. He just looks like his heart is not into it. Lack of mental make up or something. But don't fool yourself, the talent is there.

Yes, but Corey will be slated to make more than Pierre so there's no incentive for the Marlins to take him.

Pierre will make more than Patterson.

Hmmm, I stand corrected. Do you know the figures? ALso, when is PAtterson up for arb?

Both are up for arbitration. Pierre made 3.5 million last year, and Patterson made 2.8 million. Both were terrible last year, and Patterson was worse, so barring some miracle, Pierre will get more.

Thanks. I still don't see them taking Patterson for Pierre.

Worst case scenario out of that is giving up Williams and Nolasco for Pierre, that's a scary thought.

I'm not as opposed to getting Pierre as CP, but that's way too much and hope that isn't an option.

I don't like giving up Nolasco period, but wouldn't be too upset depending on who was included not named Williams of the 3.

I'd give up Patterson for Pierre in a heartbeat. Patterson is the most overhyped prospect since Choi and will not amount to anything.

I responding to UK who I obviously misunderstood. I thought he was "opposed" to giving the Marlins Patterson for Pierre, hence my comment. Again though, I misunderstood him/her.

I just want someone to get on base more then C-Patt or Neifi. I'm at the point where anybody is better then our current options.

I'm like everyone else around here, waiting for somethin gto happen. In the mean time, I decided to check out exactly what kind of numbers the Cubs put up in the first 2 slots. In the 1 hole we put up a solid .299 OBP, and the 2 hole a whopping .314 OBP. My God, let me hit in one of those slots, I can talk a walk, I swear. That being said, we have in-house options that can perform in that role. I know you're upset at the thought of Neifi hitting 1 or 2, we all are. However, acquiring Pierre (or someone of his ilk) just to pacify Dusty is flat out foolish. Go get, or attempt to get, the best hitters available for the positions you need. Hnedry needs to stop trying to fill his romantic idea of a "leadoff" hitter, and just get quality bats. Wow. Sorry about that, I guess we're all a little on edge, huh?

Using Pierre's career stats (yes, I know that's a stretch considering he had a down year in 2005), replacing our production at the leadoff position with Pierre's numbers raises our team OBP to league average. Improvements at RF, SS, and maybe 2b will give us a pretty good offense.
