you gotta wonder how much hendry really wanted bradley after last offseason's purging of bad apples. it was kinf of a pipe dream.

Right, but think about the source. It was written for a Pittsburgh newspaper. If it was posted online at around 11:00 their time. This rumor broke around 11:00 their time.

For a story like that, I'm sure he had everything ready to be turned in by 9:00 their time if not earlier.

 

No, the Pittsburgh article was posted 15 mins ago. The one only one hour ago is on the A's front page written by their equivalent to Carrie Muskat.

Interesting....did anybody else know that the Dodgers gave the Cubs permission to talk to Bradley last month? The feeling I get from the article is that Bradley could very well be a Cubs, as easily he could be a Athlethic. Interesting.....I don't think Bradley is going to be dealt, just yet, to the A's.

I've been as impatient as anyone but I do believe that Hendry will make a good trade or two to improve the Cubs. As I've said before, I'll wait and see what team he has assembled by opening day.

 

There are still a lot of options for Hendry out there.

There was also no discusion of an impending deal this morning on XM 175.

 

Hopefully, the Cubs are still in the discussions on Bradley. I think Mitre + Wellemeyer would be a better deal than what the A's are offering.

I am losing more faith in Hendry, if that is possible. He may not be sitting on his butt, but he is letting some of the top talent get away and is running out of options. Furcal - gone, Giles - never seriously pursued and also gone, Luis Castillo - gone, the list continues to grow and Hendry has nothing to show but overpaying for two bullpen arms which he has become his MO the last couple of years with less than stellar results. He is unwilling to part with prospects to reel in the big fish and by making statements that such and such a player is unavailable in a trade he is limiting his options.
