  1. Eckstein? BAHAHAHAHAH get real.
  2. I have seen Marshall hit 93 before but that was last year. I only saw him pitch the later innings a couple days ago but he was in the 80's.
  3. As he has been the vast majority of the time. Maybe what some posters here have been saying is right. Demp needs to consistently to pitch good. what? Demp needs to consistently pitch to be good. Him taking a string of days off isn't productive for him.

  5. So you don't have a problem with the team being under .500 during his tenure? The bottom line is Hendry has done a terrible job putting together a ballclub. Yes I have a problem with the team being under .500 during Hendry's tenure. I also have a problem with all of the "experts" who post critcizing every move he makes (or doesn't) make. Not all of his moves were criticized but most of them are/were. It doesn't take an expert to realize how bad some of Hendry's moves have been. I'm actually pretty convinced that there are MLB GM's that laugh at some of his moves.
  6. When you have a monkey like Hendry running the show what do you expect? Time to clear house.
  7. Hendry gives Isiah Thomas a run for his money.
  8. As I have said over quite a few posts in the past, it's easy to sit back and critcize Hendry, but the GM's job is much harder than we want to admit. As you stated, people wanted Drew and/or Abreu and they're not doing much. The argument over Giles still amazes me that people don't realize that Giles was not going to leave San Diego. When people complain about the team being good on paper, that's all a GM can do because the players have to perform on the field. The power numbers for Lee and Soriano are totally unexpected, but I'm sure some critics would say that Hendry is to blame for not forseeing this. Hendry has made plenty of mistakes, but non-performance by players that are expected to perform can't be blamed on him. No, I blame him. It's his type of player that he likes so much that is the problem at times. He doesn't look at all the numbers. He just looks at power and speed and then wonders why these guys K every time men are on base. He IS the problem. Any other GM could do MUCH better than Jimbo with this payroll. For his one good move there are 2-3 moves that leave you scratching your head. I'm also sure all GM's were laughing their ass off when they saw him sign Soriano to that RIDICULOUS contract. He's a terrible GM and should have been gone long ago. The fact that he is still here shows you how inept this organization still is.
  9. Nothing in the article is concrete evidence that he is the 5th starter, but the very fact that it was written suggests the organization has plans to use him. Can he be a middle relief guy? Or is he still against the bullpen? He should be released. He has nothing to offer this team, period.

  11. this is not going to end well. i can see it now; miller starting and marshall in the pen. :pukel: Marshall is going to fifth start until Demps takes over according to this mornings trib. From bad to worst.
  12. If all that he signs for is league minimum, it's worth a shot.
  13. Of course he has. When you're dealing with this organization expect anything possible..anything.
  14. NO surprise there. Time to DFA him.
  15. Ooh, a 'back injury' would be awfully convenient right about now. The player would have to agree to somethign like that no?
  16. So are his high amount of pickoffs laziness, or lack of attention?
  17. Now if Hendry can put Guzman back as the 5th starter role...
  18. If he was being moved to starter b/c he was so good in the pen that they wanted to maximize his innings, I'd agree with you. But when you get moved from one job to another b/c your boss thinks you're not very good at your current job, I wouldn't consider it a promotion. Even if you get more customer contact or something, you're still being moved b/c your boss thinks you're costing the company business (or, in this case, games). On the other hand, Dempster wants to start. And I want to have sex with Josie Maran. Sometimes we have to settle for inferior roles than we'd hoped for.
  19. You definitely don't pay a reliever as much as you paid Eyre when he's been mediocre every year except for one. Howry, at least, has been a good pitcher for most of his career, and was excellent for two straight years before the Cubs signed him. He was still very good last year. I think he's had bad luck with a high BABIP against this year, and I still think he'll have a pretty good season unless last year's unnecessary workload damaged his arm. Well, there is no doubt his velocity is a bit down from last year so who knows. i don't think his velocity is down. how hard do you think he throws? he's never been a flamethrower, and i haven't noticed and marked difference this year. Actually, Howry used to be a flamethrower before he had arm injuries. He was throwing 93-94 last year, that isn't the case this year.
  20. I'm hoping to see someone else get demoted or called up just to see the title of this thread get longer. :)
