  1. I think he's a good #3 pitcher. If the asking price is cheap I say go for it. I feel that he's in the same category as Lilly and Padilla and if he can be traded it won't limit us to any FA B and A signings so we can still pick up new players.
  2. What about Murton and Hill at the center of a deal to get Manny? I would be all for it as long as we somehow solidify our starting pitching.
  3. I don't see that happening.
  4. I just hope whoever buys the Cubs will allow the payroll to be fair. Imagine the disaster if an owner like Wirtz ended up with the Cubs.
  5. Say hello to Gary Matthews Junior on a 4 year deal. I can see that happening. If Hendry was willing to take a risk on DeRosa, I can also see him taking a risk on GMJR. We really need to one of Drew or Soriano to have a respectable lineup for next season.
  6. It would be stupid to trade Murton unless you get something really good in return. I would rather leave him in LF and try and strengthen the other positions. Drew for CF and Lugo for SS. Those two moves would solidify our entire lineup. Trade for Westbrook and this is what we would have: SS Lugo LF Murton 1B Lee CF Drew 3B ARam C Barrett RF Jacque 2B DeRosa PITCHER I think that is a very solid lineup. 1. Z 2. Westbrook 3. Hill 4. Miller 5. Guz/Prior/Marshall/... I would still like for us to acquire or sign at least one more pitcher.
  7. There are much better options than Marquis.
  8. I was one of the people that wanted Leftwich really bad when we had that #4 pick.
  9. Feta cheese
  10. If we can only get one of them who would you prefer?
  11. Dunno, but I would do Murton for Westbrook straight up, especially if we ink Soriano and Drew as rumored. Only if Westbrook was locked up longterm. Even then, I'm not sure. It's probably fair, but I'm just really bias toward Murton. He's my fav. player. Besides, I don't think the Indians really want/need an outfielder. We really need to trade from our strength, which is bullpen pitching and even young arms. Yeah I am also not a big fan of trading Murton. I understand that you have to trade value for value but if Carlos Lee is gonna get atleast 5/70 then I dont' see how you would trade someone who put up better numbers than him for just an average starter. Especially when this players will only be making like 500k. It just makes no sense to me. Matt Murton .297 .365 .444 13 HR 62 RBI OPS-.809 Carlos Lee .300 .355 .540 37 HR 116RBI OPS-.895 Not sure that I'd call Matt Murton better than Carlos Lee. I believe Murton put up better numbers post allstar than CLee. Is it just me or doesn't seem CLee always tapers down during the 2nd half of the season? I could be wrong but for the past couple of years it seemed that way to me.
  12. Well, then, take Izturis! Westbrook for Izturis would be a total steal for us.
  13. Haha, I got a laugh out of this: Outfield: Rickey Henderson (Toronto Blue Jays) – Missed several games because of frostbite…in August…caused by falling asleep on an ice pack.
  14. Peavy's health is a concern. The padres value Chris Young more than they do with Peavy. Yes, but you need more than 1 good pitcher to win and I honestly doubt they value Young over Peavy. Who is the one being traded? Supposedly traded. It's also very possible that Peavy had an offyear due to the World Baseball Classic. I would be extremely upset if I was a Padres fan and ended up with Horacio Ramirez who has been injured a lot more than Peavy has to take his place. This is a really good deal for the Braves and a terrible one for the Padres IMO and that's why I find this trade to be doubtful.
  15. Peavy's health is a concern. The padres value Chris Young more than they do with Peavy. Yes, but you need more than 1 good pitcher to win and I honestly doubt they value Young over Peavy.
  16. I have a hard time believing the Padres would get rid of Peavy but you never know these days.
  17. I'm just hoping we at least get 1 of them... Me too.
  18. This is from rotoworld so I don't know how good they are with prospects but Vazquez's numbers weren't bad. Vasquez, a left-hander who turns 24 next month, had a 2.75 ERA and a 91/42 K/BB ratio in 85 innings of relief between Single-A Daytona and Double-A West Tenn last season. He qualified as one of the Cubs' better relief prospects, but he's not especially young and he still has to improve his command quite a bit.
  19. We also gave up Carlos Vazquez for Cotts so it's not just Aardsma.
  20. I just looked up his stats and his only good year was in 2005. His other seasons were terrible, so who knows.
  21. Has DeRosa's contract been to the current payroll?
  22. This isn't a bad move especially if Cotts can regain his form.
  23. That's a stacked lineup and for the first time in years I would be happy going into the season.
  24. I would rather have Drew over Soriano but I won't complain if we end up with Soriano.
