  1. I hope that the Cubs win, because in my eyes Zambrano is just being greedy now. His ERA last year was 3.46 not in the 2's so whatever. If I were the Cubs I would do exactly what they are doing.
  2. I wonder where his velocity will be too. Going to the bullpen for one, and also coming from an injury.
  3. Agreed. The way this is working out is really strange.
  4. That's not good. Wasn't it biceps tendinitis that Brad Penny had and lost velocity a couple years ago?
  5. agreed, he's old and not who he used to be, but he is definitly the best hitter out of the three. If he is willing to just be a back up center option and a bat off the bench I dont mind him. I do mind. No reason to have a 42 year old on the team when his numbers the last two years were downright pathetic.
  6. i would mull rooting against them if that happened. Agreed. They would deserve to lose fans. I doubt it happens though. If Hill is clearly the better starting pitcher I think he will pitch and start. I think Miller would be the first to go over Marquis and others. His contract is manageable and can be easily released if necessary.
  7. Kinda makes sense now why they traded away Garcia and McCarthy. Looks like Buerhle will not be coming back next year.
  8. Way too early to claim everyone healthy. Let's see how they do when pitching.
  9. If only Soriano could go back to 2B and be at least AVG defensively. This is what our lineup would be: Soriano - 2B Murton - LF Lee - 1B ARam - 3B JJones - RF Barrett - C DeRosa - SS Pie - CF PITCHER Anything to get rid of Izturworthless from the lineup. I know I'm dreaming but oh well.
  10. It's safe to say signing Ben Wallace and trading Chandler for a scrub like PJ Brown was a huge mistake. Terrible moves by Pax. He has done a great job until he made those two moves, you can't win them all but at this point you have to do something with this team.
  11. What else is new with this organization..
  12. He's just super fast.
  13. that's howard? I thought it was Randall Simon at first glance. No wonder he is there early. Lose the gut bro, you're a professional athlete.
  14. Tillman is by far better than Vasher IMO. I think some QBs are shy throwing it to Vasher because of his INT skills, but if I had to choose one it would be Tillman. Also, I think Vasher can be a bad tackler at times.
  15. Exactly. I've maybe seem 3 or 4 people in this thread who are "angry" at Z. Most just seem to be discussing the pros and cons of trading him. It's not that Z is asking for Zito money which bothers me, it's how he is going about it and how he is throwing ultimatums because of it. That bothers me.
  16. I think Hendry took Z for granted and assumed he could easily sign Z to a team friendly deal. He underestimated the effect of the ridiculous overpayment of mediocre crap this offseason on Z. Z sees Jason Marquis get $21m and Ted Lilly get $40m, and Barry Zito get like $10billion, and justifiably asks for market value. Z should have been extended before Marquis was signed. What I don't like about Z is he went public with this. Why not see what he could have done behind closed doors before opening up his mouth and threatening this team?
  17. See, that's the problem with all these crazy backloaded deals..And to think with all that money we spent I still don't feel as us being WS contenders.
  18. When we were signing players left and right and back loading their contracts. I mentioned that this could cause problems with us signing Z. I think it may be possible the Cubs have decided not to extend Z already. I don't know what to think anymore with this team and this GM.
  19. Also, Joe Thomas won't fall past the 4th pick, Leon Hall probably won't get to 15, and Anthony Spencer of Purdue is a late 1st rounder at best. A lot of people are now projecting that Quinn may snowball down to 9th, though. Why would Minn draft a CB when they are solid there right now? I could see Quinn falling to them.
  20. He addressed it today (2/9) in AskBA He confirmed that the Cubs will pick #48 instead of #31 in the Supplemental First Round. All teams losing Type A FA's will select before teams that lost Type B FA's. That sucks.
  21. The market for starting pitching is just completely ridiculous.
  22. What else is new.
