  1. I think Jeter ends up with 3500 pretty easy. That's gonna be tough. That would be 185 or so every year until he's 40. I don't think he'll make it quite that far. Say Jeter stands at 2150 after this season (would give him about 215 hits on the season) Puts him at 1350 w/ eight seasons shy of turning 40. Puts avg. hits per year til 40 at < 170. If he follows up this season with another couple 200 hit campaigns would put him at < 160. He's had few injuries to think he gets really injured and becomes a great shell of his former self. Should decline as all players do (sans the roid freaks) but I think he'll be good enough to make it.

I think they'd let Vince Carter go in a heartbeat and build around RJeff, their two picks this year, Krstic, and LBJ. Quite a squad.
  3. I think its best if we don't challenge him.

  5. I think the Angels could offer up a Jered Weaver, Brandon Wood, and Kendry Morales package and blow anything we have out of the water.

I think he signs the extension with Cleveland. If things don't work out, he can walk at 27. There's few differences between the Cavs' Franchise History and the Nets'. Not to mention LeBron's alleged ties with Jay-Z and the ludicrous endorsement deals that would follow in the area make it a likely occurrance.

If LeBron wants the dough, he's out ASAP. The Bulls have a better shot at Oden. I don't know any realistic Bulls fan who would dispute that. Mine was implying him ending up in Brooklyn.
  8. Duke was informed he'd be dealt to the Cubs in three years and he just wanted to get a head start.

Considering I would give a kidney + a nut for Lebron, I can more that live with breaking up this nucleus. Bye Gordon, bye Deng, try to sign Noc and Kirk but if not, BYE. Hello Lebron. I'd give up a couple of the players guaranteed if we had a great shot at LeBron, but the only thing is, if it comes down to Chicago or Brooklyn, I think we're a distant second.

  11. Kap got a softball game tonight? Because that was some darn good preppin.
  12. Good god, Kap is killing me here. Please stop with these grass questions.
  13. Did we surpass the Mets in payroll? Considering they acquired Delgado, LoDuca, and Wagner over the offseason, I find that very hard to believe. What a douchebag.
  14. Mr MacPhail, your team seems to have the momentum of a run-away freight train. Why are they so popular?

Anyone familiar with how the BYC figure is affected following July 1st? I'm trying to figure out if my beloved Tyson and Gordo for Frye and Rose deal would go through. Any info would be appreciated!
  16. I haven't seen any beat reporter reporting it so I'm wondering how it got to Mariotti before one of the beat writers.
  17. Imagine what a team with PAYROLL and a competent GM could do with that Rays team... C: Hall 1B: Huff 2B: Cantu 3B: Lugo SS: Upton OF: Crawford OF: Baldelli OF: Delmon No DH, so we'd deal Baldelli or something like that and put Craw in center and Gomesy in left. Sign lots of great starting pitching, keep the Cubs' pen. Lugo Crawford Delmon Gomes Cantu Huff Upton Hall Pitch Excuse me while I go cry.

I could live with Aldridge and Cedric Simmons (whose potential is really high). We'd still need a big two guard, but that could be fantastic for our front line.

If only it were that simple... We'd have Hinrich up for UFA at the same time, and he'd likely be signed to an expensive deal before hand. Same with Noc, and Gordon and Deng may get RFA offers that the Bulls may have to match. If they wanna keep the nucleus they have, I don't see many scenarios in which they have room for James. Though my proposed Rose and Frye for Gordon and Tyson trade (with the necessary cap throw ins, I know I know...) could help that out a bit ;)
  20. http://CUBS are on a pace to score 588 runs this year..... compared to 703 last year Baseball statisticians, how epically bad would this total be?
  21. Mark_R

I believe James is a RFA after next season, but it would be completely worthless to make him an offer since A, he wouldn't sign one (wouldn't be max dollars), and there's no chance in hell Cleveland wouldn't match it. In 08, he should be an UFA, and he has some weird endorsement clauses that kick in if he goes to New York, Chicago, or Los Angeles. While it would be ideal to think he'd come to Chicago, we'd be hard pressed to be enough under the cap to make him an offer. We'd have to rid of Tyson and essentially say bye to some of our current core to have a chance of landing him. I think the odds are pretty remote. A realistic scenario is the Nets moving to Brooklyn with part owner Jay-Z, who apparently is very tight with James. Vince Carter is an unrestricted Free Agent after next season and could be let go with the hopes of landing James as the ultimate Free Agent Prize. I don't think its too far fetched. Granted, James could make more "salary" with the Nets, but his endorsements skyrocket if he makes it to one of the "big three" cities. And the Knicks sure as hell ain't gonna have the cap room.
  22. "Its like when you go fishing and the water is ripe for the picking. But then all of a sudden, you've got a bad batch of bait. The fish ain't gonna get the bad bait. They want the good stuff. We just didn't have the right bait, dude."
  23. Why in god's name are you on the "extend dusty" bandwagon?
  24. I sent in a desperation email to Mark Cuban, just to see if I'd get some response. As of now, I haven't gotten one, and I'm not really expecting one, but who knows... Cube, I'm curious to know of your desire to one day own a baseball team. I'm a diehard Cubs fan who is demoralized by ownership, management, and overall baseball philosophy employed by those in power. Its been bantered back and forth about your possible interest in purchasing the Cubs. I love the way you work with your team. There's legit passion and desire there, but more importantly, there's 21st Century philosophy at play where the "Old school" ideas about basketball aren't employed. Heck, your best player is an aggressive, slashing, and deadly jump shooter, and he's 7'. A complete defiance of conventional NBA wisdom for a how a 7'er should play. Cubs fans will always hold out hope that you will buy our team one of these years because we know you would do everything in your power to bring The Cubs Franchise to the limelight where it belongs. Think of the press you'd get for ending the Cubs' 100 year + drought! I get chills thinking about it. Thanks for your time, Mark. GO MAVS!
