  1. The cap in the NBA is very loose, hence why teams like the Knicks can get just about any bad contract they desire (which often appears to be all of them). It's loose for bad contracts, but not good ones. NY couldn't add someone like Ray Allen who could have really helped them. Cuban would have no restraints in baseball. That's absolutely wrong. If the Knicks wanted Ray Allen, they could give up any expiring contract (ie Penny Hardaway) and had him this season. I believe the Knicks still have a portion of their MLE as well, but if we wanna discuss contract situations in the NBA, might be a good time to split this discussion off.
  2. Nominated for dumbest thread of all time.

  4. When has the bolded part happened since 2003 during Dusty's tenure? The collapse of 04? the crapola of 05? The abomination of 06? I don't doubt you've tried Dusty, you're just a moron and even though you're not as responsibile for this 06 performance, you're still one of the worst managers in MLB. Please just leave, if your best isn't good enough. I'll PAY for your flight back to the West Coast. Dusty keeps solidifying is idiot status. Sounds like he's trying to talk himself into an extension too. Well, when we get good, I get credit, right? You're right Dusty! Here's a two year extension! Remember, we sucked this year cuz of injuries!
  5. I brought the booze.
  6. Wouldn't a trade involving Miggy have to include Cedeno? Do the O's have some other SS who could fill in like Cedeno could for very cheap?
  7. I'd wager a lot of money that most of the Cards posters sans you KNOW who are a lot more liked than CubbieRich.
  8. I'm guessing people haven't been trading for any Cubs' bats recently.
  9. All I know is the Cubs have saved me a lot of money this summer. I'm only on the hook for one more game and I'm glad about it.
  10. Cain is one fugly dude. I'd say Go Cubs, but I know the hope is futile.
  11. When the Cubs return to Chicago, what will be the fan attitude towards the team? Endearment? Indifference? Disgust? How will it be voiced? Will a large booing display get some sort of message going anywhere within the organization? Could we see a similar display to the Matt Millen antics in Detroit where the fans were actively booing the Lions and cheering the Bungles in an attempt to send a message to ownership? I think the fan interaction when they come back Friday will be interesting.
  12. I have decided to renounce my 25 votes. This team doesn't deserve them.
  13. Thank god I've got Matt Cain pitching tomorrow! The Cubs induced masochism is starting to put a wider smile on my face.
  14. I jumped after the thought of Dusty being fired, only to come back and haunt me as he pairs with Joe Morgan and Bill Walton as the most strenuous announcing trio to date. Pushed me off the ledge and there was no turning back.
  15. You know why the Cubs are losing? Clubhouse isn't loose enough! Get Kevin Millar and the Cubs go on an 18 game winning streak because the guys are having fun!
  16. IF you think he's never gonna have a shaky outing, Im not sure why. Not sure why you included the 12 Million in there either. He's been great all year. Just sounds like a smart ass comment because he gave up one of Hill's runs. sorry. he was awesome. the money spent on him should definitely have not been spent on a serviceable outfielder. That is not the issue at all. You're just trolling for arguments at this point. The Neifi, Rusch, Jones signings took up a lot more of the allocated money compared to production than Eyre.
  17. No need to rag on the pen, the one part of this team that has been decent all year.
  18. Hill was servicable until Dusty decided he'd better leave him out there so he can perform his patented tm double switch. Honestly, you'd think he's hitting on the umps in the NL or something. "So whatcha doing for dinner tonight, dude? Jones coming out. Oh, you're going to read 'moneyball?' sounds like a chore dude. Books like that can't teach me baseball."
  19. man, this team is gonna get an earful from the fans when they get back to chicago. And the "don't boo" drones will be out in full force telling us our booing doesn't make them better. They deserve it.
  20. I'd rather the Cubs try and get Olmedo Saenz.
  21. Why wouldn't you sacrifice for one run against the Cubs? That's all it takes to beat them these days.
  22. It looks like it was in the chest or just slightly above. Had he kicked him in the face, it would have gotten him in the mask.
  23. I don't believe so. I think it sends a message to him and anyone else that that sort of behavior will not be tolerated. Compared to what? Does he think it will be tolerated if he only serves 25 games? It's way out of line with MiLB's previous decisions in these situations. To what are you comparing it to? When was an official attacked with a weapon? I know if I do that at the local softball game, my ass is fired from my job, and charges are brought against me for battery. Delmon got off easy. When Alcantra kicked the catcher in the face. 6 games. Completely different situation. If Alcantra kicks the umpire in the face, suspension is probably near what Delmon got. You can't compare the two. So the difference between the umpire and the catcher is a 900% difference in suspension? And a weapon thrown in.
