  1. I mean, come on, Yadier freaking Molina!?! The Cards are so lucky. If they had Neifi on their roster, he'd be saving them left and right.
  2. Here comes the granny by Chavez. Edit: Great catch or not, I forgot - he sucks.
  3. Forget homerun thieving, that might be one of the greatest catches ever.
  4. It's true! 80% of Onion headlines are lame!
  5. While I have no idea how good a manager Ryne Sandberg would be (I'd probably be against hiring him); I've said it before, having previous ties to the Cub organization - especially by a popular player like Sandberg - probably counts against him being considered for an important role with the Cubs. Number one, I don't think management wants to be on the opposite end of hostility if things go wrong, especially considering that Cub fans - being the sentimental lot they are - would most likely turn against them if things went awry. Secondly, I think the Cub front office is genuinely skeptical of all thing Cub-like. They might not know how to build a winner, but they are cynical enough to not want to entrust their team to some former Cub.
  6. Actually, I was one of those who wanted to see Rex replaced (in fact, if you look at the game thread, I was advocating bringing in Griese right before Hester returned the punt for a touchdown). I don't really see the harm in bringing Griese when it is was apparently very clear that Rex wasn't going to lead the Bears on a game winning touchdown drive. At the very worst (best?), Griese leads them on a game winning touchdown drive and it reignites a QB controversy. That can pretty much be squelched by Lovie announcing that Rex is his quarterback and acknowledging that he was just having one of those games that even the best quarterbacks have from time to time. I would not be too worried what it would do to Rex's psyche. If he couldn't handle it, he's not the right quarterback for the Bears anyway. My guess is that he would have handled it fine and I expect him to bounce back with a good game againt San Fran in two weeks.
  7. Finally, a we get a decisive, deciding game. I've been mostly bored by this year's playoffs, but at least one series is going down to the wire. I really don't have the energy to root against the Cardinals. After what the White Sox did last year (and the Red Sox the year before), I'm pretty much immune to any potential schadenfreude. I just want the Cubs to win the damn thing already.
  8. Really. A huge comeback victory and the offense did absolutely nothing. I've never seen anything like this. It's a double victory! Not only do they get the W, but they also get the cold hard reality check they so desperately need. Lot's of things to work on over the bye week.
  9. This feels just like the Cleveland game in 2001.
  10. Whatever the outcome, Urlacher has once again proven why he is one of the best players in football.
  11. I was thinking the same thing. Opportune time for the 2 minute warning.
  12. Come on D. You've worked too hard to let up now.
  13. Thayer pulled a Steve Stone and called that Boldin catch before the ball was snapped. Pointed out that there was no safety help on the coverage.
  14. Tom Thayer: "Make sure that play stands." Uh, how are they supposed to do that?
  15. Four interceptions. How soon before the quaterback controversy begins.
