  1. No. http://www.kansascity.com/mld/kansascity/sports/11775974.htm
  2. I can kind of understand Dusty's side to this. I have to admit, if I were a manager, I probably wouldn't be too happy with an announcer coming down after a game to question one of my moves. Of course, that's assuming Stone's questioning could have been construed as second guessing. We all know how thin-skinned Baker can be. Regardless, Stone was every bit in the right to point out Baker's blunder. The problem is, it shouldn't be left to the announcer to point out the obvious. Hendry should have done it a long time ago.
  3. The problem is, that isn't happening at the moment. He's been getting booed on a regular basis, and you know that has got to rankle.
  4. Here is something to consider... Neifi Neftali Perez: .269/.293/385 (.678 OPS) Samuel Peralta Sosa: .225/.303/.392 (.695 OPS) Sosa is only 12 home runs away from 600, but it seems like an impossible task at this point that he can achieve that milestone this year (the odds are much better that he'll be DFA'd). You know deep down inside that Sammy desperately wants to become only the 5th player in baseball history to hit 600 career home runs before he hangs it up, but it's doubtful he'll accomplish it in an Oriole uniform. Instead he'll face the ignominy of facing a none-too-eager free agent market where he'll end up signing for peanuts with some desperate AL club looking for a name (Kansas City Royals?) or a team that will not guarantee him a starting job, nor a roster spot for that matter. So does Sammy, realizing that his skills have diminished to the point of no return, bow out gracefully? Or does he hang on, possibly risking further humiliation, to achieve his career milestone?
  5. This is a tough call. Walk the righty Pujols to face the lefty Edmonds? Decisions, decisions...
  6. It's David DeJesus of Kansas City, but I don't know of any relation. Sorry. FWIW, Ivan DeJesus's son, Ivan Jr., was just drafted this year by the LA Dodgers in the 2nd round.
  7. If Dusty is going to bring in a defensive replacement (and I know Hollandsworth was double swithed in), it should be Neifi.
  8. Change the word poorly with adequately. Have you seen him play defense before? Yes, and I stand by what I said.
  9. details plz. Edmonds can't catch the HEAT. He kept yelling, "Joe Morgan! Joe Morgan!", bringing up Sandberg and Santo. After he was finished with his harangue, he got a rousing ovation from his section.
  10. LOL. I am listening to the Cub radio internet feed and during the time-out between innings this Cub fan is taunting Joe Morgan something brutal. You can hear him absolutely crystal clear, it's hysterical.
  11. I love watching Wood pitch in relief. Now on to the bottom of the 7th... Jody! Jody! Jody!
  12. In honor of the Gremlin... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v511/freejju/gremlin_77.jpg
  13. I'd rather have Macias up there. That's how bad Holla has been. GREMLIN~!
  14. 123 pitches over 6 innings. Eh, arm health is overrated anyway.
  15. Dumb decision by Ramirez. And Lee saved him an error to boot.
  16. I can't stand Morgan, but I think I would rather listen to him than McCarver. Not me. While they both love the sound of their own voices and both make a point of overanalyzing every little detail to death (the greatest virute of any announcer IMO is knowing when to shut up), Morgan seems to go out of his way to hate on the Cubs. Banks Boulevard anyone? He invented that out of whole cloth.
  17. Certainly Dusty wasn't brought in as a disciplinarian. He never had that rep in San Francisco. If anything, Dusty was brought in because he wasn't disciplinarian. Had he been, he would have clashed with Bonds on more than one occasion. Instead, he gave Bonds carte blanche, and it was players like Jeff Kent that clashed with Barry. To his credit, Dusty did appear to do a good job of diffusing those situations. Dusty was brought in because he was a massager of egos -- a Phil Jackson of sorts. One of things you constantly heard about Baker after he was hired was how well he worked with Bonds, ergo he was the perfect choice to manage a Sammy Sosa led team. But, as you said, he didn't do a very good job of handing the 2004 fiasco; and without his supposed strength, what else does he offer?
  18. And the team as a whole is 7th in the league in RISP. And who is number one? The Pittsburgh freakin' Pirates, much good it does them.
  19. With Pujols on deck, Neifi just saved our bacon with that play. Cubs Win!
