  1. Why yes, yes I do... http://www.retrosheet.org/boxesetc/B05180CHN2004.htm http://www.retrosheet.org/boxesetc/B04300SFN2003.htm
  2. Exactly. Ryan has 10 times the stuff that Joe ever had. He has amoving fastball that he runs up in the mid to high 90's, and a wicked slider. If he had great command of the strike zone, he'd be unhittable. You know, I get really bothered when people criticize Borowski's "stuff". This year and last year, he obviously didn't have it, but he certainly did in '02 and '03. It's a mistake to say he got by on guile and dirty tricks. I can see calling a guy lucky if he gives up a ton of hits and doesn't strike out anyone, but that wasn't the case at all with Joe during those years. 163 K's compared to 137 hits allowed over 2 years of heavy use is pretty darn dominating in my opinion. You can't do that in the major leagues without having good stuff. I don't think anyone had stuff 10 times better than Borowski, let alone a fastball/slider goof like Demspster(fastball/slider goof is a term of endearment by the way). Am I the only guy that remembers Joe just rearing back and blowing the Braves away in the 9th inning in game 5 of the NLDS in Atlanta? No. And, so far, he has pitched lights out for the D-Rays (6 and 2/3s scoreless inning with only one hit allowed). Sure, he is pitching in a non-pressure situatian, but for two years he was our best reliever. I wish nothing but the best for JoBo.
  3. Hank=Henry White=Blanco in English And I believe Gabor is Bako's real first name, and Paul is his middle name. Gracias señor. Thank you very much.
  4. Ya know, I might be the densest individual on the planet, but can somebody please explain to me the origin of the nickname for Henry Blanco as Hank White (and for that matter, in a previous season, Paul Bako as Gabor)?
  5. While I love A-Ram, doesn't he have a player's option after two years? While we are blessed to have Aramis in his prime performing at a hall-of-fame level, what happens if he elects to take the free agent route after 2006? Hopefully Hendry and the Cubs do whatever it takes to keep Aramis happy.
  6. Oops, you are correct. He blew a save on May 11th against the Mets in his first relief appearance for the Cubs.
  7. Oh well, first blown save of the season for Dempster (even though he got screwed), he did manage to vulture a win. Hopefully we'll see Rich Hill firmly establish himself as a legitimate major league starter tomorrow.
  8. Sad but true, Derrek Lee will get the Gold Glove at first simply because of his offensive heroics (even though he probably deserves it regardless). Bet on it.
  9. Oh, how long I've waited to bring back this particular cheer... Jody! Jody! Jody!
  10. The Cardinals play Jack Buck's Wrigley Field rendition of "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" during the 7th inning stretch (at least for this series).
  11. Jose Macias knows fundenmentals. Take that Cards!
  12. Come on, lay off Prior, he's been good to us.
  13. Not saying you (they) are, just replying to the poster.
  14. The Cardinals may be ahead of us by more than 10 games in the standings, but it ain't because of fundementals. Also, it's a bit disingenuous for the Cardinals to cry injury when it has only happened to them recently while the Cubs have been plagued for most of the season.
  15. :) :D :o :) :D :o :) :D :o Yeah, of course, the Cardinals know how to execute fundementals...
  16. Anyone know who goes down for Rich Hill tomorrow?
  17. Rich Hill starting tomorrow night, according to Pat Hughes.
  18. It's funny that you mention Lee Smith because he had a reputation of getting those Pepto-Bismol saves. I always thought that Joe Borowksi's save appearances (at least in '03) were pretty easy on the blood pressure, especially compared to that of Rod Beck from a couple of years before. Weird how perception shapes our view of things.
  19. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v511/freejju/kim_stretching_tips.jpg Do not concentrate on the finger or you will miss all that heavenly glory.
  20. Along with Steve Stone, they also got Steve Swisher, Ken Frailing and Jim Kremmel -- pretty much didley squat.
