  1. I never said Theriot was better than DeRosa, what I did say was a interrogative statement asking why one automatically assumes DeRosa instantly gets the job at 2b over Theriot-if Theriot is forced from short that is-without competiton during spring training. Haha, what? And DeRosa should automatically be given the job because he's better than Theriot. The same reason Derrek Lee won't be battling Darryl Ward for the starting 1B job in Spring Training.
  2. After this season, the only interleague matchup we will have not had is vs. Boston in Fenway. We will have played every other team in baseball at home and at their place. When did the Cubs play in Kansas City?
  3. I like Theriot a lot, but he's not even close to DeRosa. If this is the competition at 2B next year... well, there won't be much of a competition.
  4. I love Stoney as an announcer. I'd hate to see him as the Cubs GM though.
  5. Wow, Vance looks hammered in those!
  6. Exactly. There's no way he can be this stupid. Right? You don't bench a guy and then leave him off the postseason roster if you plan on having him around next year. Come on, guys. Think about it. This makes zero sense.
  7. Even Hendry can't be this stupid. I don't care what Ken Rosenthal speculates, there's no way the Cubs bring Trachsel back. No way.
  8. I love how Yeti blacked out and doesn't remember anything, yet everyone is able to piece his night back together.
  9. Are you serious? How in the hell are these games not sold out? I didn't realize that DBacks fans were so scarce/lame.
  10. The only thing I can come up with is that they're thinking that some people already sold their NLDS tickets and might not be able to go through the hoops to get them back and refunded by the Nov. 30th deadline. I don't know how realistic that is, but I don't see any other possible reason for doing NLDS tickets one way and NLCS tickets another. I wouldn't put it past this organization though.
  11. Absolutely. Cheer for the Rockies.
  12. Well that's good news for those of us that have NLCS tickets.
  13. What moorecg is saying is that it isn't encouraging when players are expecting to lose. And then show up the next day and watch three strikes pass by with the bases loaded (or with two on, whatever).
  14. I got my NLCS tickets this afternoon. On the back of them, it states that if you want a refund then you need to mail them back to the Cubs. Make sure you do it by November 30th. What a braindead decision. Not only will I not get my "convenience fees" back, but I also have to piss away more money to ship them to the Cubs, rather than them just crediting my account. Stupid, stupid, stupid.
  15. When I saw the thread title, I thought this was going to be about Aram's awful performance in the playoffs. Something he should be bashed for. This is just stupid though.
  16. As much as I want the Indians to win, and as much as I hate how over hyped the Red Sox and Yankees both are, a part of me really wants the Yankees to win because the Red Sox -- Yankees rivalry really is a great one.
  17. What do you mean? Anywhere near as good as he thinks he is? What makes you say that?
  18. Why? did Soriano and Ramirez tell him when they signed their massive contracts that they only planned on trying through September, and then theyd half ass their way through the next 3 games? He put together a playoff team. Nothing he did caused this collapse. He's a failure. Even with the playoff appearance the Cubs haven't even gotten back to the level they were in 2003, let alone making progress beyond that. All this year accomplished was making up SOME of the ground they lost since 2003. Four years with no progress is inexcusable.Do you realize that the Cubs offense and pitching were both better this year than in 2003? Statistically that might be the case but I want you to find anybody who would rather have Z, Lilly, and Hill over Prior, Wood, and Clement, and Zambrano. The #5 spot in the rotation in 2003 really hurts their stats overall. The bullpen and offense were better this year than 03, but I think you'd be hard pressed to find anybody wanting to take this years rotation, over 03. 2003 happened and was supposed to be the start of something good. Instead, we have 2004 where we have a better record than 2003, but choke down the stretch. Then the problems really start happening, and Hendry puts this organization back big time in 05 and 06. People like to point at the fact Hendry's teams have been to the playoffs twice in 5 years, big deal. The resources given to Jim Hendry during his time here have been so much greater than any GM in Cubs history, and the only 2 years his teams have made it to the playoffs, were in years when the entire division is a joke. I'd absolutely rather have the '03 rotation, but I'd also absolutely rather have this year's offense. But that's neither here nor there. I was just responding to the part of NCC's post that said that the Cubs haven't gotten back to the level they were at in 2003, because it's simply not true. They've gone beyond the level of the 2003 team.
  19. I think the Cubs will explore trading Dempster and look to move Howry or Wood into the closer's role. I can't say that I'd disagree with doing that.
  20. Please..... read that one over and re-post it. Whoops! Fixed it.

  22. Why is this a poll? Obviously 2003 hurt more.
  23. I'm pretty positive that the Cubs have a very reasonable option on Ward. I'd be shocked if they don't pick it up. I hope Wood and Prior are retained. Everyone else out of that bunch can go retire for all I care.
  24. Mizzou straight dominating the Cornhuskers! I wish I could get pumped about it... thanks Cubs!
  25. This makes absolutely no sense. This is [expletive]. Tickets are going to get lost in the mail and people are going to be out hundreds of dollars. Now I have to pay extra to have signature confirmation to make sure that some shadeball doesn't mess with my refund. And I have to eat the shipping and "convenience" fees. Freaking [expletive] ass Cubs.
