    Maybe. The MU Alumni Association sent out an email to all members today. And I've received several forwarded emails over the past couple days from people encouraging everyone to vote for him. There could be something shady going on, but I wouldn't underestimate MU alums either.

    McDonough has been with the Cubs for what, 20 years now? Him just upping and leaving after finally reaching the top of the ladder is sort of odd. But all things considered, he probably knows something that we don't regarding the future of the organization.

    It would've been cool to see Maddux return to Atlanta for a final year as well. Speaking of former Braves... writing what I wrote above caused me to think of Steve Avery. I went to his baseball reference page, and saw that after pitching for the Reds in '99, he was out of baseball til '03 where he had a brief stint with Detroit. Why was he out for a few years? Was it injuries, or lack of talent at that point?

    Castillo would look really good hitting second... but we already have a guy named Mark DeRosa. Why are the Cubs looking to bring in a new second baseman? I just don't get it.

    Another dominant performance from Chase Daniel and the Missouri offense today. Tigers up 49-25 with 6 minutes to play.

    Very rarely do I bitch about the refs in college or pro football, but the refs in the Mizzou game have effed us at least three times in the first half. Just an awful job of officiating.

    Umm, he was 6th worst in baseball in terms of pitches per plate appearance and this was his worst year in terms of HR's per AB. Oh wait, I get it... you were being facetious. Yeah, Corey still sucks.

    Can't Hendry just give one of Fukudome's best friends a 200K salary as a personal assistant/translator/BFF rather than signing some crap player and paying him 5 million dollars a year through 2010?

    I don't know the validity of it, but I just read on BCB that Matsui and Fukudome went to the same high school together. If that's true, I think it's obvious why Hendry is looking at him.

    I missed what Kaplan said; can someone fill me in? Regardless of what he said, I would be surprised if Hendry signed this guy. He makes some stupid moves, but I don't see a way for even HIM to justify this one.

    You sure about that? After that out, the players on the other team just ran into the dugout. No celebration or anything. Either way, pretty cool stuff. I'll have to look at more of them later.

    I usually don't watch the crap on ESPN, but they had it on at the place I had lunch at today. The headline on the TV was "Was race a factor?" or something like that. Stephen Smith and whoever else is on that show were discussing it. It really pisses me off that race is being talked about here.

    According to Barry Rozner, it might happen. If any season ticketholders are reading this and have received that letter, please share it's contents with the rest of us.

    Yeah, the headline in the sports section of today's Post read "Cards willing to deal Rolen" or something like that. You don't see something like that about a Cardinals player too often. I'd say it's 75/25 that he's traded this offseason.
