I've seen this a lot lately. Here's a question I have... who has the best record since June 2nd, or June 1st? Obviously not the Cubs, otherwise they would just say that.

If Pie is stinking it up like he has been, he shouldn't just be penciled in everyday. If we want to get into the playoffs, we can't keep running a slumping player out there, I don't care who he is.

That sucks. Just prolongs the eventual dumping of Eyre. But on the flip side, at least it will (hopefully) allow Marmol to close more games.

I wish Dunn would sign a 20 year contract somewhere -- anywhere! -- so that his name would stop popping up in every thread in the Transactions forum. -
Jerry Blevins... I've seen that name mentioned in this thread a few times. I've never heard of him prior to today, so I looked him up on The Baseball Cube. Can someone please tell me why you're clamoring for him to be brought up? I just looked at his stats, and he was awful in A ball in '05, then even worse in A ball in '06. He was pretty good in 6 innings of AA ball that year though. I don't know what his numbers are this year, but what about a guy who sucked for the last two years in A ball makes you want him in the ML bullpen right now?

This is pretty stupid. MLB is mad because ESPN talked about something that was public knowledge (the All Star rosters)? It's not like ESPN sent ninjas into the TBS studios to find out what the rosters were, and then reported them before TBS did. They were just doing their job.

I didn't even know he was still on the team?!!? Oh he's there alright. Hasn't been on base in over two weeks (in other words has done absolutely nothing in over two weeks), but he's there.

Or interviewing someone and asking them how a dead guy is doing. I almost died that day from laughter. That was easily one of the funniest things I've ever heard. What happened?

They were certainly playing for something last year. Meanwhile, Dunn couldn't keep his average above the Mendoza line.

Lofton just keeps producing, year after year. He's hitting around .300 with an OBP just under .380. And he really hasn't lost a step either - he's 20/24 in the SB department. Letting him walk after 2003 was a bad idea. Not going after him in the next couple weeks would be an even worse idea.

Just to expand on that point, Dunn's career numbers in the last two months of the season... August: .221/.343/.477 September: .211/.346/.386 And last year... August: .188/.284/.416 September: .157/.333/.265 I don't want a guy who can't hit better than .220 during the stretch run. Just another in the long list of reasons to not go after Adam Dunn.

Hah, why am I not surprised that suddenly made an appearance? And that it's no big deal that Hill sucks. Again. and it's no big surprise that hill's biggest critics are reveling in the poor start, and ridiculing those who think he's a good pitcher. I'm not ridiculing anyone, and I certainly don't revel when a Cubs pitcher has a bad start.

He's only given up 2 runs. So far. Like I was saying, another solid outing by Hill. 6 runs in 4+ innings. Way to go! He's been pathetic in 3 out of his last 4 starts.
