    I still don't understand this one. A 2nd and 7th for Wes Welker? He's a 3rd/4th receiver and average return man. Getting a 2nd for him is surprising. I don't understand it either. I doubt the Pats would have given up so much in a regular trade-Welker was a RFA, and for the Pats to sign him away would have required 2nd round compensation anyway, so the Pats were going to lose that. By giving up their 7th rounder as well, they were able to sign him to a much smaller deal than they would have had to by just signing him. The question is-what do the Pats see in him that they want to sign him in the first place? I'm not sure, but they are pretty good at finding talent, and so I'm worried to find out. Maybe he promised to give the Pats a Dolphin playbook to look at.

    If there's anyone who knows Hill with the Cubs, it'd be Wilken. Wonder what he'd think about picking Hill up? Very true and I'm curious if he thinks Hill could be a MLB SS?

    They know what it takes to make it. Boone was accused too wasn't he? I wonder if it's the pressure to succeed or the dad took a little edge maker too back in their day.

    Toronto hasn't really committed to Hill at SS yet. They had Adams there for most of last year so I'm not positive Hill could handle the everyday SS job.

    Prior has to realize that it's only the exhibition season too and if they hit the ball 700 yards it doesn't matter as long as you're working on the right things. Hopefully he'll start to get his mechanics down and go back to being a pitcher again.

    I agree and that seems to be the stumbling block. Of course a trade for a good SS involving Jones and Izturis would be perfect. Who's even out there that would be an upgrade at SS other than ARod? How about Jorge Cantu for the Devil Rays? We could move DeRosa over to SS. I wonder how well DeRosa could play SS? Didn't he struggle there and that's why they moved him to 2nd? Cantu used to play for Lou at TB, I wonder what he (Lou) thinks of him?

    I was wondering when teams usually trade during ST? When did the Cubs trade for Lee...was that during the ST time period? Willis for Clement, was that during this time period?

    Prior could be throwing at 80-90% game wise right now to get himself ready so I'm not worried about it at this stage. We still have 3 1/2 weeks before the start of the season so we'll see how Prior progesses as the preseason progresses.

    How often is Soriano going to be on first? I agree I'd like him to get more fastballs but if he can hit in the 8th slot while getting a big dose of offspeed stuff I think it might help his development in becoming a complete hitter. It could hurt him as well and wreck his confidence because you know pitchers won't be giving him a lot to hit but pitchers also like to get that 8th guy out and have the pitcher lead off if they can. I also don't think he'd get on base enough to be able to hit second like a Murton or even DeRosa could.

    I could see Cotts-Guzman and Mateo being ready but not Miller or Marshall as they seem to be in the same boat as Prior. Who's the Don?
