  1. Meaning? I'm aware of the small sample size but how often do you continue to steal with him? What if he gets thrown out the next time and is now 2-5? When is the sample the correct size? I don't think anyone on this board goes by pure numbers Cuse, you know that. Nobody is going to send Adam Dunn on a bunch of stolen base escapades over the course of the season in order to determine whether he'd be 75% successful or not. Pie has an established history in the minors and the coaches know what he is capable of doing on the basepaths. Once Pie gets a reasonable sample size, then we can make the judgment as to whether or not he should be stealing with any regularity. Maybe, but that's what was debated earlier and that 70% was a solid number for them. What if a guy has been 65% effective in steals over the course of his 7 year career? What would you do then O_O?
  2. Meaning? I'm aware of the small sample size but how often do you continue to steal with him? What if he gets thrown out the next time and is now 2-5? When is the sample the correct size? you pick your spots. you don't let him steal at his discretion. But you don't take away that part of his game. I agree. But, for the guys that go strickly by the numbers what is a decent sample size?
  3. I would be so happy :-). Not to mention their teams would be #1 and #2 preseason IMO. Good luck with that shnsajax! Do the players know what the draft order is before they have to declare?
  4. I will say what I have said about Angel for the last 4 years. If he is physically able to pitch, he will do it well. Easily the most talented arm to come thru the Cubs system since Zambrano. I agree. Why is he hurt so often? I hope it isn't because his arm motion sucks, like Woody... I really would like to see his moition now and then. He's a heck of a pitcher and it looks as if Lou thinks that way too. I really don't see Prior as being more effective than Guzman in 2007. did you feel that way three days ago?accusing question> I've felt that way for all of 2007. I'm on record as saying Prior won't be back until June or so and IMO no way will he ever pass Guzman from here on as long as Guzman stays healthy.
  5. I like Murtons approach to hitting and I think he will be an important piece in this team winning. He'll never approach Ichiro defensively but I think he will offensively and maybe pass him production wise if he's allowed to play everyday.

  7. Where does the kid that hit a walk off fit into this ranking? Is he too old? Too young?
  8. I have a question for those who want to go by numbers 70% for the use of the steal of second base. Let's say Pie is called up in May. He goes 2-4 in stolen bases, do you ever send him again? He's at 50%, do you do it?

  11. I say after todays performance he will be the Cy Young winner hands down.

  13. Saying "hope I'm wrong" seems like he's giving him a chance to me. you're right. However "So other than sucking in 2002 and 2003". . and "suck at pitching" is not so positive. who said i was being positive about him? i said i hope he does well. listen, he's really pretty much sucked for the better part of the last five years (including sucking especially hard in the most recent season). if you want to pretend that didn't happen, go ahead. if he was on the cardinals right now, i truly doubt you'd have anything positive to say about him. so i'm not going to sit here and pretend i'm excited about him. and me doing that is not going to have any effect on anybody doing anything anywhere. I'm over it. Just forget about it. Be as negative as you want. would you have a positive outlook for marquis if he had signed with the mariners or the cardinals or anyone else in baseball besides the cubs? If I had heard they had fixed a supposed mechanical flaw? I'd say that he had a decent chance to be good, and a decent chance to be very bad-which is about what I'm saying now :D That's what I've heard too. He used to throw left handed and now he throws right. It's just like the Cards not to have noticed that.
  14. That's what I want to hear...that's good news to see that he had a little patience.
  15. 2-out hit by Blanco Izturis at the plate 2-0 Cubs/ bottom 4 If he swings at the first pitch again I'm going to go to Arizona and whack him in the head.
  16. Good point...it's turned into the Ron and Pat show here!
  17. Surely he's not talking about Estrada. Should he have said soda instead?
  18. That's horrible baseball! Now if he scores on a SF or a grounder I'm going to be mad! Is that horrible baseball...... or just taking what the defense gives you ?? Just a little debate we had a while back Fred. Yeah, I was there. Just givin' you a ration of you know what !! You got me!
