  1. My biggest problem with this whole deal is this. The Cubs should have called up Soto played him, and saw what he could do first before dealing for Kendall. If Soto stunk, then I would be ok with this deal.
  2. At least Prior had a taste, this poor kid just has had a horrible time staying healthy. I've never seen him pitch, does he put an undue strain on his shoulder or elbow when he throws? This is just too frequent to think he's ever throwing normally.
  3. Question...why didn't the Reds walk bases loaded in order to have a force at home instead of leaving it 1st and 3rd with 0 outs? I could see 1st and 3rd with 1 out but with none, I don't get it.
  4. Out of curiosity, did you ever bunt in practice before that?
  5. I got burned by that this year for the first time. I thought it was ball four but I didn't challenge it and it came back to burn me.
  6. I wanted Willie Randolph, Lou and Mocha (Oak). I was too much of a coward to just pick one!
  7. the usual: Rose: Big 10 champ vs. Pac 10 champ Orange: ACC champ vs. At Large Fiesta: Big 12 champ vs. At Large Sugar: SEC champ vs. At Large Big East is the only BCS conference that doesn't "host" a BCS bowl game, and, of course, if the #1 and #2 teams in the country are conference champs, then more at-larges will get into these 4 bowls Oh goody, we'll get stuck playing an ACC team again or Hawaii. Hey Illinois people. What did you think of Adrian Dantleys kid throwing a TD against you on Saturday?
  8. Probably. Blame the system. When you make point differential & strength of schedule count for so much in the rankings, it's really no wonder that fans start taking it into account when talking smack. Until there's a valid playoff system (probably never), such is NCAA Div 1-A football. I really hope that after the regular season/Champ games are over there are 4 undefeated teams. and that after the bowl games there are still 3 Brings up a humorous point. I think alot of college football fans now root for the most troublesome outcome just to see the BCS squirm. It's fun, actually 8-) Now, if the last undefeated teams are USC, LSU, Rutgers, Hawaii and Purdue we know what 2 teams will go to the BCS Championship game. Rutgers wouldn't because well, darn it they're Rutgers and from the Big East. Purdue wouldn't because the Big 10 was down this year. Hawaii has a strength of schedule that would rival any D2 team. Florida, Oklahoma, and BC would fill the last BCS spots. What are the BCS matchups this year?
  9. Time to start beating the teams who no longer have anything to play for. Time to beat the Reds. No more excuses. Arroyo -- Christ come on it's not like he's Cy Young. More like Babe Ruth when he plays against the Cubs.
  10. Minnesota? Or Northwestern. Losing to Duke is not a good thing.
  11. But if he's traded in the middle of his contract doesn't he have the right to declare for free agency? I'm pretty sure they took that out of the new CBA. Did they really? Well that would help things. IMO, the O's would want Hill, Pie and Marmol. I'm not sure I'd trade any of them straight up for Tejada. I think it's going to take a very hefty proposal to get Tejada, I wouldn't be surprised to see a team like the Padres trade Greene and others for him.
  12. That nasty Bud Selig is up to no good yet once again!
  13. So now Whoopie Goldberg, Billy Crystal, and Robin Williams will have a Comic Relief concert called "Food for Thought" that will free all of the young players trapped behind veterans who have been there.
  14. But if he's traded in the middle of his contract doesn't he have the right to declare for free agency? I'm pretty sure they took that out of the new CBA. Did they really? Well that would help things. IMO, the O's would want Hill, Pie and Marmol.
  15. So now you want the Cubs to offer Eckstein a 3 year 24 million dollar deal this off season?
  16. But if he's traded in the middle of his contract doesn't he have the right to declare for free agency?

  18. He bothers me steroid wise too. I wanted him a couple of years ago and last off season/ een at the trading deadline but at his age, playing SS, worries me on how productive he'll be and the cost would be very high prospect wise along with stretching the payroll to the outer limits. I think it really would depend on how the Cubs ended up roster/payroll wise if Tejada would really be a wise investment.
  19. I think any team that goes 12-0, unless it like a Hawaii situation, deserves some kudos because it's a tough thing to do.
  20. The only thing I said about predicting the outcome is that Mizzou was going to score a bunch of points. And even then, you're confusing people and for some reason taking it out on Mizzou/the Mizzou fans here. It wasn't even a Mizzou/B12 guy who said something about Mizzou being a surprise team this year that could win the B12(Dew, I think), and I was the first person to point out that our defense isn't good enough to do that. In the same way, it's not the Mizzou/B12 guys who are trying to keep U of I down by saying Syracuse sucks, etc.(yet there has been the opposite being said by U of I folk). Well we're only a quarter of the way there and there's a ton of football yet to be played so I'm looking forward in seeing how this all develops! And Syracuse does stink this year. Good luck with your Mizzou team and wasn't Michigan St your favorite before you went to school?
  21. Syracuse is terrible and the worst team in our long long history. I'm glad that you Illinois guys are happy to be 2-1 but you just beat a team that is worse than Buffalo. So whats your point? I keep seeing people say this, but do you people not realize that we as Illinois fans are happy because in the previous years, we are what Syracuse is. However we actually won this game, unlike years past, and we as Illinois fans arent expecting a NC this year, but we do know our team is very talented, and has another top recruiting class on its way. Its been quite awhile that Illinois fans have even wanted to mention the word football. We are on the right track, and its extremely exciting watching these young talented kids coming in. I'm happy for you guys and you do seem to be on the right track. I'm just telling you that you just beat a horrible team who would lose to a bunch of D2 teams. I apologize if this sounded like you guys are not that good, I suppose I was just trying to guard your enthusiasm a little but you're right, have fun with it and enjoy the ride.
  22. I think the day off yesterday will help and Maybe Lou will give him a couple if Cedeno continues to hit.
  23. What would you all give up for Tejada? What would Andy ask for?
  24. First off, congrats for #500 Mr. Thome. On Mike and Mike they were asking if Thome is a HOF player. He's reached 500 at one of the fastest rates of any player in history but only has 1900something hits. If this guy played for the Yanks he'd be a God and it would be a no brainer.
