    Cubs agreed to move them to 1:20 to address neighborhood traffic concerns. I think they might have gotten extra night games in exchange, too. I like this 2:20 start! It's about time the world accepted EST.

    By "it" you mean just that Johnson can't hit RHP well? Cuz Lou still has bullpen management issues. He may at times but we don't know if a guy is hurting and can't go in so what Lou does may seem odd but there may be an outside reason why.

    I agree and I think he's done a pretty good job but he ignored my Cedeno idea! I like to play subs a couple of games in a row to get them into a groove and as you said, keep that success going while giving Theriot a much need rest.

In response to the general idea that less strikeouts = declining Z, I totally stand by it. I suppose it is semantics but I read this statement "Getting someone to hit into an out has the same result as a strikeout" as something different and I did ask you if you were just talking about the hitters result. What I'd like to see is if Z is missing the plate less when he throws a ball.

    Has he started throwing the change up more when he started? It would make sense that he would have more success if he did and might be the reason why he did better as a starter.

    IMO..the reason Ryno was mentioned is because he gets kicked out of so many games and may facilitate this type of attitude.

    Pitches per plate appearance for Big Z 2002: 3.96 2003: 3.76 2004: 3.91 2005: 3.90 2006: 3.95 2007: 3.98 2008: 3.73 Thanks grass. So he seems to finding the plate more often and is getting hit more often and the ball in theory is getting hit as hard as in the past. I think this might not be a bad thing as long as he hasn't changed his velo and is now throwing less pitches.

    I'd like to see Cedeno start at SS today unless Johnsons left handed than I want him at second.

    Do you think the Cubs will have a "Throw the ball at a fan" night when Ryno is in town? As someone mentioned earlier, thank God this kid didn't have a bat.

    Maybe he has too much iron in his system or has some magnetic pull that displeases the Gods? I hope his back is fine first of all because if that's bugging him I don't see him as being ready to help the Cubs. I really hope it is behind him now and he can focus on getting ready to help the Cubs in September.
