  1. I called it. What the hell is wrong with him? I see nothing wrong with Hendry saying good things about an employee. I'm sure if the right players come up he'll entertain the idea of a move and make it if he thinks it'll make the team better. IMO, Hendry's more concerned about CF and RF and filling those holes. Or, he could do what most GM's do and say "We're always looking to improve". True but if the question is about Theriot then he has to answer in a positive way regarding the subject. I understand why you don't like the quote but I wouldn't really read too much into it. I look at it as Hendry keeping a players value up instead of talking him down. Is it possible Hendry thinks Theriot is an everyday SS, yes. Do I have faith that Hendry will do the right moves to Make this team better, about 25%...yes. I think he painted himself into a corner with all the deals from the 2006 off season and if he is going to improve this team he's going to have to really get the most bang for the buck which is something I don't really have a lot of faith in, much like you. I'm hoping that Lou will help him scope out the right type of players just as Baker did with the wrong ones even though Baker did say he had nothing to do with some of the pickups that Hendry made. They reeked of Baker.
  2. What if Wood does sign with the Reds and then they break the bank and get ARod, the bigger question is, would you still root for the Cubs over Dunn and that crew of players even with Dusty?

  4. Unless they are going to move Johnson to center, escobar to 2b and play ARod at short OR move Chipper back to the OF again, it ain't happening. Both of those scenarios seem very unlikely to happen. They have options and young talent. They also are pretty creative when it comes to deals so this quick deal makes me wonder why they made this trade so early, unless they are going young I can't think of a reason why they would sell Renteria so quickly. Renteria could be on Mitchells list I suppose and this was a chance to sell high.
  5. he has less of a chance to win there than some other options But they are a very competitive team and with a couple of deals they could be a top 2 team in the NL. Add to that it's close to ARods home in Florida.
  6. Another thing....Boras and the Braves have been talking about Jones, I wonder if the Braves let him know about their interest in ARod and this might be a reason he left his Yankee money?
  7. Maybe ARod has a spot open in Atlanta? They are losing the Jones contract and may be a serious player for him.
  8. You must be in that place in your avatar.
  9. Donnybaseball is leaving the team is the last thing I heard.
  10. That's a nice idea but I wonder if Hendry has his hands tied on being able to work a contract like that.
  11. I don't think that Joe is an idiot and I'm sure he'll be smart enough to have some give and take with the vets on that team.
  12. Cowherd made me change the dial and now I listen to Dan Patrick on Fox. Thanks Colin.
  13. Pray it doesn't rain in the 1st-3rd inning in a game they start.
  14. This is a move they could pull off and they do need a SS. My 3 teams for ARod are St. Louis, Mets and Angels. A-Rod here in St.Louis would make me sick. Just he and Pujols in the same line up would be enough to win this division for several years to come. I'm sure he's be close to public enemy #1 if he did go to the Cards. Imagine if the Reds wanted to make a big splash and signed him?
  15. So, now I wonder if Torre is going to the Dodgers since they had Joe as their #1?

  17. With things the way they are, you're probably right. If Hendry gets a little creative with current salary and ARods, I thinks it's possible. If ARod just wants all the cash he could get, I think he would have stayed with the Yanks so maybe it's possible that he wants to play somewhere that he's comfortable and that's where Lou comes in big time.
  18. I'd move Wright to LF to make room for Arod at 3rd. Wright has already said he would be willing to move. I wouldn't move a guy like Wright but I could see how that move would make sense if the Mets could swing it. Personally, I'd rather have Santana than Reyes.
  19. If I were the Mets, I'd sign ARod, trade Reyes to the Twins for Santana.
  20. So now we'll see if Lou can get the quality of free agents as Dusty claimed to be able to get.
  21. http://www.baseballprospectus.com/unfiltered/?p=624 Well color me wrong. I guess I'm the only one not watching. Thanks for the info Tree.
  22. Way back in 2003 the Cubs had the young guns that were suppose to be the dominate arms for the rest of the decade while Florida's were just young guys until they meet in a playoff game. Things turned 180 degrees after that. Aye, a sad time indeed.
  23. They need about 600K people to watch these games in person because nobody is watching on TV. The WS goes into November and starts too late, those are the problems they need to address.
  24. So, Gordon, Noah, Nocioni, and a first-round pick, plus some way to balance out the moneys? Sign me up for that one. Bryant is funny. He wants Wallace because that way he will get 35 shots a game. That man sure does love to shoot.
  25. Gray can be sneaky good for a big man. I think he'll put up 8 pt 8 reb numbers for the Bulls this year.
