  1. Darn reefer addicts. I'll bet Martys still locked in the trunk.
  2. I wonder if Jeff changes his arm angle a little when he throws his slider, they didn't really seem to bite on those.
  3. I'm not too thrilled with an ump making his own calls up but as long as he's consistent the whole game and with both teams, I'd be ok with it.
  4. I played in the Jim Beam bowl, does that count? We had to do a shot of JB every time we gave up a TD...that was a fun day.
  5. Sori looked like he shortened his 0-2 swing on that one.
  6. Lou getting the big picture regarding the starting Pitchers...I'm diggin it.
  7. I'm pretty thankful he's not a reactionary idiot, to be honest And have it be a shallow fly to left.
  8. I'd rather hear Ben Stein's HR call.
  9. Lots of people (me included) are guilty of constantly forgetting he's a rookie. The struggles he's sometimes experienced have been frustrated, but the amount of success he's had as a rookie catcher is astonishing. ROTY, All Star Game starter, and probably an OPS around .840, .850. What I like about him that he is an intelligent player and is willing to listen and learn. Thank God Lou's here and not Dusty. Nice hit there Rammy!
  10. Watching Z throw today reminds me of Fergie Jenkins when Z drops his arm angle down.
  11. If Soto continues to hit the ball where it's pitched, he's going to be a heck of a hitter.
  12. Here are my thoughts on the poll: Michigan and Notre Dame have no business receiving votes Perhaps it's my bias, but Tennessee should be higher. 12-14 would be about right, I think. BYU, Texas Tech and Va Tech shouldn't be in the top 20. Auburn shouldn't be ahead of Tennessee. Similar talent levels, Auburn has a new QB, new offensive coordinator, new defensive coordinator and a new offensive scheme. Tennessee has a new QB and offensive coordinator. Georgia deserves its preseason number one, but will be ridiculed when it drops. I'm afraid most people won't realize how tough the Bulldogs' schedule is and how, potentially, three of the best teams in the nation are in the SEC East. I think that's enough complaints. :D EDIT: One last thought, and this is for Cuse. South Florida is a good team and likely should be a bit higher. Perhaps top 20, but not top 15. And I'll give them credit, outside of a patsy first game (UT-Martin) USF is playing some good to decent teams non-con (Kansas, NC State, UCF). South Florida only returns 10 guys on offense so I'm sure they will be worse since the writers usually get these things right. And Andy, WV returns a lot of players including White, Devine and their offensive line, I thought being ranked 8th showed no respect. I'm sure the writers really wanted to put Michigan in the Top 5 but felt that they only lost a couple of key players and punished them w/only a top 25 ranking.
  13. So are the Pirates if any of the prospects they're supposed to get are any good. Exactly. Bay to Hermida is probably a lateral move, with Hermida being cheaper and having more upside. If they get a decent arm or 2 on top of that, they've made out. Florida is really getting screwed in this deal. Hermida and Tucker for 2 months of Manny? boston would be making out great in that trade. i don't know why any team would allow them to really win a manny trade when they're the ones in the corner. I agree and not only that Florida can't offer Manny arb either so they won't be able to get picks? I don't understand the Marlins in this deal at all. Was that part of the agreement that they wouldn't offer Manny arbi? I hadn't heard that. That'd be crazy. I just thought it was that they had to turn down his option. The bit I heard yesterday was that they couldn't pick up the options and they couldn't offer arby. That's what I heard as well.
  14. Now the Reds should send Brantley to the Sox as well to complete their announcing team and annoye the heck out of Junior.

  16. All I can say is that having Yost, Baker and Wade in the NL Central is a very good thing.
  17. Did he say hit all pitches the other way or did he say to take the outside pitches the other way? I really doubt he told them not to drive the ball. Why? It's what Harris is doing in Washington? Some guys think the only way to hit is exactly the way they did. When you're a crappy hitter like Lenny Harris or Mickey Hatcher you survived by dumping the ball to opposite field. Just because they're big leauge instructors doesn't mean they can't be morons. What I don't understand is ...is he telling all the players to just dump the ball in right, inside out the swing or drive the outside strike to right? I didn't say they couldn't be morons but telling all your hitters not to drive the ball seems quite absurd. I'm just curious because I thought what you wrote was interesting and I wanted to find out what Hatcher is doing.
  18. Realistically though, what the heck do we ask for in return? I'd think it would be major league players over prospects. For Cedeno and Eyre? Hu and a prospect would work, the Dodgers have plenty of good ones. They wouldn't want Marquis as well, would they? Also, I wonder if Boston would be involved in this as well in some way.
  19. Come on, man. You can't dangle details like that in front of us and then not expect us to want to know them. What are your past experiences with him? Sorry but cannot wait to see how THIS plays out.... I thought you might like that one. Absolutely, will keep an eye on this one. Can you enlighten me a bit here? She has said in the past that she had info and was asked to say from where exactly and couldn't/wouldn't much like what you said Bruno and let's just say, the thread got interesting.
  20. Why Big 10 people hate ND fans! For the Big East, that hate would only help us and has. That's because ND doesn't play any Big East teams (in football), so their "we're better than everyone and don't need you" attitude doesn't rub you the wrong way. The Big 10 has had a fairly symbiotic relationship with ND (Michigan, Purdue and Michigan St. mostly, with PSU having some history), yet fans like Andy constantly say "whatever, we don't even want to play you", etc. I think they are playing 3 or 4 this year and have agreed to play that many at the least as long as they are in the BE (in other sports) from here on. ND is a midwestern school and has a national draw so they are a natural to play 3 or so teams in the area plus going to the other areas of the nation. If they went to the Big 10 they would have to play what, 8 or 9 conference teams and then play USC, a tough southern team and then a tough eastern team plus Navy which is a lot if you ask me. ND gets way too much credit when they are good and way too much attention when they are average or bad but like it or not, they are a lightning rod when it comes to college football.
  21. Who would the Cubs have as a back up SS? I don't understand trading Cedeno unless they get some pretty good quality in return and a back up plan.
  22. Boola boola sarsaparilla....I'll take chocolate if you take vanoola. Sorry....my dad used to say this all the time when I was a kid and I couldn't resist!
  23. Why Big 10 people hate ND fans! For the Big East, that hate would only help us and has.
