  1. Count 'em, 6 Ks thru four innings. Wonder if that white plastic floating past home plate grabbed KB's attention a bit.
  2. Happ is the most shaky-looking former Gold Glove recipient I've ever seen.
  3. Another loud out, this one to the warning track, by Blackmon. Ump missed the previous pitch for a strike on the outside corner. Count of 1-2 turned into 2-1.
  4. The error and a 13-pitch K jumped his pitch count up a bit. But it's still in the average-ish range.
  5. And his first 1-2-3 inning! Cool as the other side of the pillow!
  6. Ballgame is on MLB Network (free) for those not in Chicago or without MLBTV. Also, many cable/sat TV providers will provide the game for free this week. Pretty certain Xfinitiy does.
  7. I went to the second game of the season against the Brewers in 2008. Day game, sunny but cold, wind blowing in, Lilly on the mound, It was all Brewers, and I froze my ass off. Sat right behind home plate, about 12-15 rows up. Hot chocolate was the "beer" of the day.
  8. Agree. Not much fun taking turns, game by game. Was always nice to have a little "standings" set up, at least early in the season. See who the "hot" posters are when a losing streak needed to be broken, etc.
  9. You got the first win, I suggest you continue until a loss. I'd rather not be Mr. Jinxy. Plus, my concern is that I'll start another game thread only to be "bogarted" again by you like earlier today!! 😝
  10. Not certain I like this move. Amaya has had some good cuts today.
  11. Which Chicago baseball team will win their first game first? White Sox fall to 0-3 with a sweep by Detroit.
  12. Wicks has actually been really good today. And he’s had a pretty solid start to his MLB career.
  13. Morel with too much time to think about that throw.
  14. Nothing wrong with Gray approaching 30 pitches in the 1st inning.
  15. Finally getting to watch the game after completely missing the first two. Hopefully, my mere viewer presence changes the outcome.
  16. I started a gam thread last night, but created it in the archived "Game Threads" forum. Feel free to delete.

  18. Twins' Anthony DeScalfani done for the season with flexor tendon surgery. Second one in consecutive seasons.
  19. I was unable to watch any of the Cubs' opener for various reasons. Checked the score early via my phone, and it was tied. Checked the score well after it would've ended and saw they lost. Bummer. I was unable to watch any of the Cubs' game today for various reasons. Checked the score early via my phone, and it was tied. Checked the score well after it would've ended and saw they lost. Bummer. I should finally be able to watch the Cubs in game #3. Hopefully the mere presence of my viewership has an effect on the outcome. Jon Gray was better on the road than at home last year by more than a full earned run. He handled the Cubs pretty well in Wrigley last year, giving up 3 runs and only 6 hits. Four of the six hits were to guys named Tucker (2), Edwin, Trey, and Luis. NIcky Hamstring had 2 hits, so there's that. The Cubs have yet to lose this season on a Sunday. The Cubs have not been swept in a series this season. Jordan Wicks has never lost to the Rangers. Occasionally, a blind squirrel finds a nut. Or an Easter egg. Go sChlubs, go!!
