  1. So the Marlins have the second highest swing rate in baseball. Maybe that’ll help the Cubs pitchers reduce the number of BBs they give up.
  2. The David Price Rule Who knew this was a thing?? “With a runner or runners on base, a pitcher will be presumed to be pitching from the Set Position if he stands with his pivot foot in contact with and parallel to the pitcher’s plate, and his other foot in front of the pitcher’s plate, unless he notifies the umpire that he will be pitching from the Windup Position under such circumstances prior to the beginning of an at-bat,” the rule states. “A pitcher will be permitted to notify the umpire that he is pitching from the Windup Position within an at-bat only in the event of (i) a substitution by the offensive team; or (ii) immediately upon the advancement of one or more runners (i.e., after one or more base runners advance but before the delivery of the next pitch).” Cleveland pitcher balked in a run in a scoreless game against the BoSox. Ended up losing 2-0.
  3. Not counting the games against the Cubs: Rangers 8-8 Rockies 4-12 Dodgers 11-7 Padres 9-9 Mariners 8-8 DBacks 8-8 I think the 5-4 road trip is pretty solid, as is the start to the season being 11-7. But it's not like the teams they've played teams that have had really good starts to their seasons. They're all .500 ('cept the Rocks) and then LA. And LA just lost 2 of 3 to the Nats. In LA. I think the Cubs have been winning despite many of their issues, which is good. If they can fix the middle of the lineup, the starting pitching, and the bullpen even just a little, they should be one of the top teams in baseball.
  4. 4-4 on the current road trip. A win makes it a very respectable 5-4. A loss, and it's 4-5 which ordinarily would be okay. But given the 8-0 lead that turned into a loss and the pen problems last night, 4-5 really seems like a bummer. WIn this afternoon, head home, and play 6 games against a couple of teams that are struggling.
  5. Just after 9:30p here in southern AZ. No problems at all.
  6. So living in AZ, I'm watching the DBacks broadcast. And to start the top of the inning, the announcers bring in Miggy for a chat. Turns into a minny lovefest while Happ is batting. They show the GS from 2016 playoffs. Happ singles and they then show the extra innings RBI single in Game 7 of the WS. Then the extra base hit barrage happens. The DBacks pull the starter, and as they go to commercial break, Miggy says it's time for him to go. Thanks Miggy!!
  7. Are we sure Ben Brown is the odd man out when Taillon returns to the rotation?
  8. I noticed the green color change a couple of days ago. Thought it was just a simple change Brock made. But I always thought the star indicated a thread I posted in.
  9. Billy Martin
  10. John Sterling, voice of the Yankees for the past 36 years, is retiring effective immediately. Apparently there's some health concerns.
  11. Whitey Herzog has died. Like him in KC. Hated him in St. Louis.
  12. Wonder what the effect of relievers facing a "minimum of 3 hitters" has, if any.
  13. Anyone care to speculate what his next injury will be? And how much time he’ll miss?
  14. I guess I’m just looking at it from the perspective that had the Cubs taken the lead in the bottom of the 8th (even with only 3 hits), and the opposing team scored on a two-base wild pitch. And then if they ended up losing in extras, we’d feel the Cubs gave one away.
  15. That is a stolen win. Nice to be on the right side of this type of game.
  16. Does Ben get the 7th? Not if the Cubs score, he won't.
  17. The craziest ones were on a chopper just past the pitchers mound that Dunston would come sprinting in and fire a rocket to 1B from about 60 feet.
  18. Is this guy coming out to pitch the 6th? He's at 95 pitches already.
  19. Only 4 games, but Luzardo has been anything but good so far.
  20. If Seiya is shut down for a bit, it'll be interesting to see if Counsell goes with Canario in RF or if he goes with the veteran (Tauchmann or Cooper). Pretty obvious what Rossy would do.
