Just think maybe it saves face a bit for medical staff since they said the X-ray was negative. I’m sure it’s areal fracture and he’s out until August. And it wasn’t really an arguement as much as just a spontaneous thought. -

Just spitballing here: he has discomfort and comes out of the game. X-rays are negative. Wakes up pretty sore on Wednesday morning. Cubs project he’s unavailable to bat (and thus play) for at least a few days. So they “find” a hairline fracture and IR him. This allows them to call up a player while Cody is unavailable for this stretch of 16 consecutive games. iIn the past, how many times have they played a week or so short-handed before putting a player on IR? So maybe, just maybe, the “hairline” is really tiny. #WishfulThinking -
