    Is David Bote worth another try instead of Mastro. He's versatile on defense and at least provides a little pop. Madrigal can't hit the ball past a drawn in outfield and Mastro's only real redeeming qualities are his versatility and left-handedness. I know he's not really in the Cubs future, but could he be worse than those two. Maybe they catch lightening in a bottle again for a few weeks.

    Jose Abreu of the .099/.156/.113 slash line, is being optioned to the Minors. He's agreed to work on his timing/hitting. I guess the Atros opted not to make up a phony injury.

    First person that jumped to mind regarding this was Chris Sale. I don't know that he was "The Closer", per se, but he was definitely the 8th inning guy and then was closing some games by years end. Don't remember if that was due to injury, performance, etc.

    Jameson Taillon thru his first 3 starts in 2023: 14 innings, 15 hits, 7 ER, 4.50 ERA, AVG .263, GO/AO 0.59, WHIP 1.36 Cubs record 0-3 Jameson Taillon thru his first 3 starts in 2024: 18 innings, 14 hits, 3ER, 1.50 ERA, AVG .204, GO/AO 0.88, WHIP 0.94. Cubs record 3-0 Clearly not going to post the numbers across the entire season. But what a huge boost it would be if JT could be closer to this start of the season as opposed to last season.

    I don't know, maybe the infielders can stop throwing dirt balls. That would be a nice start.

    I do not like 4-game series. Sweeps - nearly impossible, Winning the series - well, that extra game seems to make it really tough. A split - meh (unless they lose 2 of the first 3).

    South Siders scored 9 runs last night against Tampa (seriously, they did), and then scored 8 tonight in the walk off 8-6 win over the Rays. Their first "winning streak" of the season.

    The White Sox really have been one of the worst franchises in the history of Major League Baseball. When have they ever had sustained success. And they hardly ever make the playoffs. And when they do, they almost always fizzle out right away. What other franchise is worse over the course of their history??

    Good call. I was watching post game and they were talking about Assad’s streak of 4+ innings with giving up only 1 or 0 runs. Guess that planted the seed. But he’s just seems to be consistently solid ever time he goes out to the mound. Speaking of post game, which I almost never watch, I am not ashamed to say that Dexter has an outstanding smile. That thing would light up a dark room!

    Player of the Game obviously PCA with his first hit, first, HR, and GW hit. But mad props (again) to Javier Assad. First and third two batters into the game and he minimizes the damage about as well as you could in that sitch. Only went 4+ but that game could’ve gotten out of hand in the first. How does he come out of the starting rotation???
