  1. No way, no thanks, never. Umpires are 99.9% right and most of them are fantastic at what they do. (Angel Hernandez and Laz Diaz are of another world, however). baseball simply doesn't need replay.
  2. Doesn't he live in Arizona? During the offseason. I think he lives there full time. No, he's been living in Chicago during the season. why? does he have a job in chicago? He works for the Score (but he really doesn't have to be in chicago to do what he does)
  3. I had tickets for the September 27 night game vs the Reds... really the final important win of the year. Wrigley was rocking, Zambrano pitched well, macias homered, and they won big. Then it all fell apart...
  4. Then I vote for Morandini... time for the dandy little glove man to return, mullet and all
  5. are you suggesting Ryno deserved a legit shot to manage this team?
  6. I appreciate the kind words. Bruce was excellent as always, and I'm always in the mood to talk Cubs baseball. We got some excellent thoughts on the managerial job, MacPhail, the future of the team, and Murton/Theriot. Thanks for listening! Sorry I wasn't able to get to everyones questions (I actually didn't have internet access during the show). Hopefully we can get more interviews like this over the course of the offseason.
  7. Just a head's up... I figured a few people might be interested in giving this a listen He's joining me tonight on my radio show for 10-15 minutes of Cubs talk. His segment will start around 6:45 Eastern You can catch it online at http://www.wiux.org - Indiana University Student Radio Feel free to drop some question ideas! Thanks ----------------- ETA by Serena to add: Good show! You have a good broadcasting voice, Irish O'Shea! You can download the interview as an mp3 file or listen to it here: http://www.4shared.com/dir/977989/c80d2d05/sharing.html It's a little over 12 minutes. The audio clip starts about 30 seconds into the interview while Bruce is summing up the Dusty Baker era. The audio get choppy occasionally -- sounds like the phone was cutting out a few times -- but the majority of it is clear.
  8. Has he really "figured it all out" since? AVG .312 | HR 17 | RBI 74 | OBP .372 | SLG .501 6 triples, VS. LEFT: .288 / .885 VS. RIGHT: .312 / .845 HOME: .312 / .893 AWAY: .302 / .820 He strikes out kkind of lot, but I'd say he's doing just fine
  9. I live out of Chicago now, and am finally seeing highlights from the other night. The bleachers are empty, it's crazy
  10. http://woodrow.typepad.com/the_ponderings_of_woodrow/files/gazoo.jpg ???
  11. It's still on http://www.sportsradio1250.com., but it was moved down to the bottom of the page in the Audio Archives section. I don't know how long it will be there, but it should be up tonight. Good stuff...
  12. A few things... This list is horribly stupid. Why are we ignoring Cubs that played before the 1950's? And there's no way that Ron Santo is one of the 5 greatest Cubs of all time. Sosa > Santo
  13. I've noticed it since 2003.. Honestly, I am not positive one way or another about the years before it. I *think* Baylor made them come out and stand... but I am not 100% positive. It really bothers me... especially when you have someone like Wayne Messmer singing.
  14. I'm not implying that... I just think it's disrespectful.
  15. Why don't the Cubs stand for the national anthem? Every visiting team comes to town, removes their caps, and shows respect for the flag. Half the cubs are in the clubhouse during the anthem. It's been this way since 2003, and I find it embarassing. Am I the only one disgusted by that?
  16.
  17. Someone please tell ESPN that the cubs didn't start playing at wrigley until 1916... yes the park opened in 1914, but not for the cubs.
  18. I had this argument on another message board.. Is it Maddux, Pedro, The Rocket?? By this generation, figure the last 20 years or so.
  19. It's bush league...no pun intended.. really A team like the reds, especially, are above this
  20. Reds have cheerleaders? The Reds have cheerleaders, according to the CINCINNATI INQUIRER. "I think it's a great idea," left fielder Adam Dunn said. "It gets the fans into (the game) and gives us something to look at." The new MDX Reds Crew, all-female cheerleading and dance troupe sponsored by Mountain Dew's new energy soda, formed this spring. About 30 hopefuls auditioned last month for 12 spots. The majority of those selected have cheered or danced competitively at the professional or collegiate levels. "It's the kind of thing we hope takes off and continues to be a positive and uplifting thing," said Phil Castellini, senior director of ballpark operations for the Reds. "I think it's a fun, healthy, energetic addition to an already fun venue. We think the possibilities are endless." read the full story at http://www.benmaller.com That's pathetic
  21. There is no reason as to why both leagues need to have the same number of teams. And why put more teams in the central time zone (houston, texas, san antonio) into the west division? You realize that one of the biggest problems for the texas rangers is that their road division games don't start until 9 pm? Really a great way to build up the young fanbase
  22. Len...shame on you Cubs didn't start at wrigley until 1916
  23. What? SRO goes on sale day-of-game, no? It's a great way to see a game cheaply, and a great view will be yours if you know the park. Yeah.. Standing room has nothing to do with the knothole in the outfield. It is located behind terrace reserved in the lower deck. Goes all the way around the park (obviously not the bleachers). Standing room goes on sale if the game has no/limited view seats only. Again, if you know the park well you can have a great view. I love it. I'm young enough to stand for the whole game, I like meeting and talking with security/ushers and venders in between innings. It's a real blast, if you do it right.
