  1. What? Why would they do that? IrishOshea you are cheap if you think that's the best way to catch a game, but whatever gets you into Wrigley is good way to go. I'm a 19 year old college student going to a Big Ten university out-of-state. By hopping the el, using the early bird discount, and getting 10 dollar tickets, I can get to cubs games for under 25 dollars. That means I can go to more than 1 game a week.
  2. Anyone know if standing room tickets are 10$ again this year? It isn't on the Cubs webpage... They were the only ticket prices to go down from 2004 to 2005. Best way to catch a game, really.
  3. he was in camp with them last year...before making his way over to the Devil Rays system. And... I was almost positive he wasn't married. Might be wrong with that, though.
  4. Wherever he is, I wish him nothing but the best with life. Trenidad was one of the most friendly and gracious ballplayers I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. No doubt about it. He told me last year he wants to play until he is 50, then eventually be a hitting coach or manager. I have a feeling he'll be around for a long time.
  5. I've had the pleasure to interview him several times. He really is a great guy.
  6. He was last seen with the Durham Bulls (AAA for Tampa Bay). I called the Bulls and they wouldn't tell me if he was even in camp with the Rays. I've searched online. Anyone know where he is right now?
  7. They need to get something in the 7th inning. Whether it is audio of harry doing it, or ex-players... but the celebrities don't work. Granted, it is part of the experience of going to a game there, and it should always continue. I like Santo doing more of it. Jeff Gordon and Ozzie have no place in that ballpark. I would like them to stay with ex-cubs, prominent chicago figures, or celebrity cubs fans (for the love of god, jim beluschi is not a cubs fan... however billy corgan is a good example of a celebrity who should be allowed to sing once a year). Irishoshea21, I don't know where you get your info, but everywhere I read/heard, Jim Belushi is VERY much a BIG Cubs fans. So again, I don't know where you get your info, but you are clearly wrong. So because he sits in the bleachers when they are on ESPN, and ESPN interviews him (has nothign to do with the fact that he has a show on ABC) means that he is a cubs fan? Where the hell was he pre 2003? He was never around. Magically the team wins, and he jumps on the bandwagon. When he is interviewed, he makes the same old general phrases, "boy i like derrek lee, man aramis is good" that any basic fan has. Boy, what a true fan. Because you see him on TV talking about the cubs, doesn't make him a real fan. If he was a real fan, we would have known about him pre-2003. I completely agree. I refuse to endorse any celebrity as a "true Cub fan" until they take a notebook into the booth with them and talk about Michael Wuertz's really good BAA, as well as John Mabry's oddly large BABIP. Until then, they're just another moron who likes to watch Derrek and Aramis. I think he's fake... disagree with me, fine. Just because the guy parades around Hollywood telling the world he is a cubs fan, doesn't mean he is. I'm just not buying into it. I'd say he's as much of a Cubs fan as Rod Blagojevich. The man who said in 2003 that the Cubs had never clinched a playoff birth at home.
  8. Always a good time when he's at wrigley. The ceremonial first pitch going into the crowd is great.
  9. I just think he is fake, that is all. I never saw him around until they win, his comments make him sound like any random person trying to fit in. And his show sucks... I just think there are better celebrity fans than him. How dare I propose something different?

  11. Standing room is the best deal at Wrigley. When I'm home from School ( I go to Indiana University) I live up in Glenview. I can take the train for 3.50, get standing room for 10 bucks, and get food with the early bird discount keeping all Cubs games under 20-25 bucks. The View is great, most standing room people are real fans (otherwise they wouldn't be there) and you meet a lot of great people (ushers and security guards). It's a blast and I can't wait until I'm back out there.
  12. You mean bleacher box seats? Most bleacher (as in no seat back, general admission) have sold out already. I did not know the bleacher tickets had sold out already. That sucks. Are the prices for bleacher box the same? Also, i just checked and there are no value days in june, so much for that idea. But anyways, how much are bleacher box tickets? It doesnt have them listed on cubs.com. Bleacher box seats are going to be 60 bucks a pop (total crap) and you're in the right field corner. Above the knothole thing. But it is assigned seating and you have a seat back. THey go on sale the same day the dugout/bullpen seats go on sale. Some point in march... i want to say at some point in the teens. It should be listed somewhere on cubs.com I'm curious to know if anyone has a price check on standing room this year. They were 15 bucks in 2004, and only 10 last year. Nothing beats standing room at wrigley!

  14. I enjoy it... I just enjoy it more when someone logical is singing it.

  16. You do realize that she is just a pawn for the cubs. http://www.cubs.com is a promotional website and everything is pro-cubs, everything is bright and good in cubsland. If you are looking for news, cubs.com should be the last place you visit. Take everything you read there with a grain of salt. Don't blame her, she is just doing her job. If she put more opinion and more negative spin on things (even if it is reality), she'd lose her job.
  17. but thats the left center bleachers. I thought the bleacher box seats were going in on the far right field corner... like above this knothole thing.
  18. Thanks for the link... none of the highlights are working for me, though. Anyone else having the same luck?
  19. No doubt they will. Along with the ice cream machine incident. I hope they have some calls from that 98 season, too. There was some great, great moments from that crazy year.
  20. I spent the summer working at Sporting News Radio and I worked on creating highlights from all the major league games. I always pulled the santo isms, put them on a cd, and use them now as part of my weekly radio show at Indiana University. It's great stuff. You know how much money you could make just by selling those things for 5-10 bucks a pop on NSBB? 8) I would never sell it. I would be happy to host a few every now and then. Or, be really nice, and listen to my show :o As part of a special segment when March rolls around, I am going to have 1 beat writer from each team in the NL central (we have lots of cubs, cards, reds fans down here) to discuss the situation facing their respective team. I will happily keep you informed if anyone has interest.

  22. I don't remember anything notable about Corey in opening day '04, but he had a monster game opening day '03 against the Mets. 7 RBIs 2 HRs? Is that the game you're thinking of Tree? CFP well he did homer during his first atbat on opening day in 2004. Gave people hope he was fully healthy and ready to put up a year like 2003. But yeah, opening day 2003 @ New York was probably the best day of his life.
  23. ?? You mean 2003?
  24. Wasn't that the same game that Prior had like 15 or 16 K's, only to be let down by the Cubs offense? Nope. The Corey 15th inning HR in Milwaukee (May 15, 2003) was the day that Woody had am impressive start. He went 7 innings without giving up a run, struck out 13 and didn't get the win. Alfonseca blew it, giving up a solo hr to Scott Podsednik. The Prior 16-K game was June 26, 2003. Prior struck out 16 in 8 innings, but borowski gave up 3 in the top of the 9th.
  25. The outfield wall is still there.. They wouldn't rip off the outfield wall, it's not like they are changing the dimesnions of the field
