  1. Obviously I don't know what is causing Soler to struggle right now, but I find it hard to believe he has completely lost his ability to hit at least as well as last year. Whenever they figure out what adjustments are going to work for him, I still think he's going to be good... at least I hope good enough to draw some interest in a trade if nothing else.
  2. Soler's gonna have a huge night... it's time.
  3. Look, I'm as negative as the next guy when bad things happen, but seriously, a win is a win. This is awesome!
  4. really, the only thing that slam hurts is the stats... so far.
  5. My weather report doesn't look good for today... what does it look like out there?
  6. I admit I don't know much about Trout other than his awesomeness. Is he a good fit for the clubhouse? I am fine with giving away prospects to get such a powerhouse, but I feel like Russell, Schwarber, and certainly Bryant are key pieces of the team at this point... Guys like Baez and even Szczur feel the same way right now. Soler seems expendable, but at the same time, I feel like he's a couple of good starts from being a powerhouse again. That doesn't mean I wouldn't include him in a deal for Trout in a heartbeat... but It's not always about the best players... It really is about the best team.
  7. Having watched it about 20 times now, I'm pretty sure the Rizzo HR was foul. It hit the flag on the foul side of the pole... Not sure what hitting the flag means, it might make it fair... But it's yet another reason to have robot umps... put a freaking camera on the foul pole, and make it certain!
  8. The end of the game for the red sox vs. yankees is the absolute perfect example of the need for robot umps. The ump made a terrible call the batter before Ortiz, then doubled down on an even worse call on that 3-1 pitch. Okay, you make one bad call, whatever... two bad calls... in that situation, maybe you were fooled... but that last call, was just absurdly stupid, and entirely the Ump getting caught up in the moment and not wanting to get shown up. The whole tossing guys out of the game for arguing balls and strikes when they aren't arguing or they are angry in the dugout is also just horribly wrong. Lester getting thrown out yesterday was absurd as well. If a guy gets in your face, toss them... but you can't toss them for asking questions or grumbling in the dugout. Sure, the umps do ok 95% of the time... maybe even more... but something has to change when they are letting their emotions decide games.
  9. That has to be one of the greatest gifs ever created involving baseball.
  10. Is it wrong of me to want the Cubs to score like 10 runs this inning?
  11. The odds say yes, but given the worst he's felt ended with a no-hitter, I say no!
  12. That hit the lip of the grass too, crazy good
  13. Today was the worst. I could not find a gif that portrayed my sadness at the appropriate level. Apparently kittens and puppies can't look sad enough. Furthermore, they're skipping Hendricks, so there's no chance I'll get to see Arrieta in San Fran when I will be at the game. Please tell me there is no rain coming in tomorrow?
  14. I often wonder in situations like this if there are more important things to Theo and Co. than just the numbers, or even current skills. They signed Federowicz as a backup to the normal backup plans. Well, the Cubs need that right this moment, and while there are other options, it might send the wrong kind of message to the minor league guys if they skip over the guy who was specifically signed for this reason, for a guy that might not be ready. There are also players who are lightning in a bottle when they get a chance for a winning team. Maybe Federowicz only has a couple of really good weeks in the big leagues in his whole career, but it could be now, for this team, and why not give him a shot? I'm just annoyed I have to find his rookie card for my 2016 Cubs team collection...
  15. Thank you for that Onion article, it made my day.
