    It's only $5 a month. Big Mac, fries and a coke will cost you more than that! And nsbb won't clog your arteries. Any drugs you would take to combat the anxiety or stress would run you more than $5/month. It's a bargain at twice the price.

    At 2 for 3 tonight Robinson is now tied with Craig for AVG of qualifying DCub batters at 289. Oops, while I was interrupted Robinson is now 3 for 4 and leads the DCubs in avg. He's still got a way to go for OBP, SLG and OPS.

    The Cubs need patient, high OBP guys all through the order.

    You can't call a league in the minors a pitchers league based on historical stats, as all of those pitchers that made it that way have been promoted. Also for every Jeter, there are 99 other guys who commit that many errors and never make it past AA. Same with Howard. I agree that there's too much bashing going on with Harvey, but I also agree that if he wants to become a productive major leaguer, he seriously needs to learn alot more patience. While he recent performance is pleasing, there's still alot of opportunity for growth that needs to take place before he gets his superstar prospect status back. This year, the PCL has 12 hitters with OPS over 890. The Southern League has 1. The FSL has none. The MWL has 3. I think it's safe to say the FSL is still a pitchers' league.

    Wow - those are some serious home-away splits. I had been looking at Craig's and thought they were pretty dramatic (962/700 OPS) , but Harvey really likes that home cooking (902/527 OPS). I know the FSL is considered a strong pitcher's league, maybe Daytona is just an average park.

    Um, yeah. And Miller's name wasn't mentioned. Have you read this thread? I think Miller's name was brought up in this morning's game thread. Hard to keep those game threads straight.

    Perez gives up 3 in the first and 2 in the second for Daytona. Craig's leadoff ground rule double is wasted in the top of the second, DCubs down 5-0 after 2.

    Nope. The Maddux signing was longer. Isn't the Nomar trade the longest thread? Choi for Lee was pretty darned long. What's the record for the most number of posts discussing the length of a thread?

    Thank you. Although, plate discipline wasn't his only problem this season. For August through Aug 6 his BABIP is .529. Somehow I don't think that's sustainable.

    The management deserves some criticism for Corey, but Nomar's case for Comeback Player rests on the fact that he was injured for most of last year; he hit relatively well once he came back from his torn groin. Borowski is the same case as Nomar - he had rotator cuff problems in 2004 and a broken arm in 2005 that severly limited his effectiveness. But our management had the best information about the players and their injuries and chose to let them go / not re-sign. The fact that they chose to let them leave doesn't reflect well on management's talent evaluation skills.

    I am getting that sense too, though I would still platoon Murton with Jones in RF, sign Dave Roberts to play CF and get a big bat for LF. It does seem that Hendry will use his $25-30M to address starting pitching, but that's just a guess at this point. what about with playing murton every day & platooning restovich with jones in rf? Restovich is the best clutch hitter on the team at 333. You'd think the Hendry/Baker tandum would love those numbers. Are those his major league numbers? His minor league splits show the opposite - overall AVG .281, RISP .265, Close & Late .207. I'm not much of a believer in clutch, but those AAA numbers are the opposite of clutch.

    Another day, more reasons to love those Rangers - a little base-clogging with walks to Young and Texeira, an opposite field single by Blaylock loads the bases for DeRosa. The announcer comments that DeRosa has 7 HR's this year but has never had a GS. Less than 2 seconds after those words are out of his mouth DeRosa goes yard putting the Rangers up 7-2 in the middle of the 5th.

    During spring training he and the organization decided to have him learn catching, a la Barrett. He's supposed to be working on that in Daytona, but has yet to play any catcher in games.
