  1. Thats OK, I was listening to the DiamondJaxx post-game show. According to Ron, Matt Craig's HR was a monster shot clearing the fence and the wind screen beyond - but still only cut the DJaxx lead in half.
  2. Amen and Hallelelujah!
  3. June 14 update: The top 3 slugging % in the Southern League are Smokies - Kroeger .635, Fox .532, Craig .518 1-2-7 in average - Kroeger .393, Craig .343, Cortes .324 1-3 in OPS - Kroeger 1.098, Craig .956 1-4-7 in OBP - Kroeger .463, Craig .438, Cortes .415
  4. What's the attraction of Moore other than he's already on the 40 man roster? Even then, Soto and Cedeno are both hitting better if you're only looking for a bat off the bench (which is basically all that Ward supplies).
  5. As of June 3, the Smokies have 3 of the top 4 slugging %'s in the Southern League - Kroeger .607, Fox .545 and Craig .543. Kroeger and Craig are 1 and 2 in OPS at 1.049 and .994, and 1 and 3 in AVG at .364 and .346. Link
  6. Normally just do one post but Outshined ditched us so I have to pick up his duties too. Oh sure, pick on the guy defending alleged war criminals why don't you? Alleged being the key word, right? That wouldn't be as challenging as defending admitted war criminals.
  7. You have it backwards. By using "greater than" signs when you probably meant to use "less than" signs you actually have Mesa as the top farm team and Iowa at the bottom. If you are using hope and expectation that a Cubs prospect will be somebody one day, this may actually be true. The higher up the ladder they go, the less hope and expectations we have in them. Good point. :D I wasn't really using the greater than symbol in its true use, I was using it more to show flow like you would see someone give computer commands. That's what I figured, but I have to admit I like Jersey Boy's (that name feels weird) explanation better.
  8. Didn't really appreciate Ron calling the DJaxx walkoff HR
  9. Maybe we're talking semantics here, but I would say with the budget and the results, the majority of his moves should be criticized. And it's somewhat like my job - when I make the right decision, it is somewhat taken for granted because I'm just doing my job. When I make the wrong decision it seems to garner a lot more attention. Only if you have no expectation of competence would you devote as much attention to successes as failures.
  10. Well Sammy's not Superman after all. He came in as a pinch hitter today in the bottom of the 9th with 2 out and 2 on down by 2 (Sammy At The Bat?). Unfortunately for the Rangers, mighty Sammy struck out.
  11. Can you state with 100% certainty that Sammy isn't slipping the Rangers $8 million under the table? Yeah, that's it, and I bet he's been paying off all these pitchers to groove him a few. Now it all makes sense.
  12. OK, the 10th HR makes it easy to do the math. At a base salary of $500K Sammys $/HR is down to $50K. How many will Soriano (just to pull a name out of a hat) have to hit to match that?
  13. Actually, it's more RBI's and HR's than everyone besides ARam, more doubles than everyone but Lee and Soriano, more total bases than everyone but Ramirez and Lee. Of players with at least 50 PA's he has a higher OPS than everyone but Ramirez and Lee. Not bad for a guy just flailing away for HR's. Oh, so he has better stats than everyone on the Cubs not named Lee, Ramirez or Soriano? The Sosa man-love crowd is a weeeeird bunch. Oh, and did I forget to mention that he's getting a base salary of $500K? How weird is that?
  14. Actually, it's more RBI's and HR's than everyone besides ARam, more doubles than everyone but Lee and Soriano, more total bases than everyone but Ramirez and Lee. 15. It's the same surgery by the same surgeon that Kenny Rogers had in 2001. Kenny seemed to come back alright.
  16. Well at least you shouldn't have to worry about the sunburn issue.
  17. If Clemens knows his body can;t hold up for a full season (I hear he's a little older than the average player), doesn't it make sense to save some for the end of the season rather than run out of gas in August?
  18. I don't see the big deal. Farnsworth gave his opinion, but made it clear he wouldn't let it be a problem. I didn't hear him say that getting Clemens with the leave clause was going to make the Yankees worse than not having Clemens at all. The team would be better off if Farnsworth would pitch for the minimum and the Yankees use the difference to get more/better players but I don't think Farnsworth would sign up for that. I guess what people are saying is some contract terms should be non-negotiable, and this is one of them.
