  1. how about the cubs pull a craig biggio and move him to second, where that offense would look real good, get clee to play left, let murton/jones platoon and pry away a brian mccann or ronny paulino, or even kendall(i know kendall is old, but fox shouldn't be that far away)?
  2. Being better than Roger is an accomplishment, Andy? Not so much. c'mon goony, it's ryan o'freakinmalley!
  3. The Reggie Bush? Was he wearing #5? He now wears #25. He showed some nice moves, especially once during kick returning drills. I also got Brees, Horn, and about 18 others on my ball. They were very accomodating after practice. Horn is one of the most personable guys out there. congrats vance. i know this is going to be thread-jacking, but i am a big saints fan from the short time i lived in new orleans. how are they looking? is deuce playing at all? how do you feel about brees? i know brooks wasn't the greatest, but i think brees only succeeded in SD because of the system. Brees and Horn looked good. Deuce was running reps with the first team offense and splitting time with Bush. Some interesting points are that Devry Henderson seems to have subplanted Stallworth as the number two receiver. The defense looks bad, really bad. it's sad that they still aren't going to be good for a while. i can imagine it becoming the lions with barry sanders. :( i hope that stallworth can become what his talent would suggest he could be.

  5. well, at least we know that if hendry respects anyone it's maddux, so hopefully jimbo will pay attention.
  6. i'm not sure if people think this is going out on a limb or not, but i am calling right now that colvin will be one of the best position players to come up through our minor league system in a very long time. that may not be saying a whole lot, but i think he is going to be an all-star player, several years in a row at the big league level.
  7. i can't believe that oakland had soooo much talent at one time damon, tejada, dye, giambi, zito, mulder, hudson, chavez.
  8. i wonder what the cubs record is against starting pitchers who have started 12 or less major league games? where's fred?
  9. what happened to all the sports figures hawking e.d. pills?
  10. finally it's not just the cubs doing it then.
  11. he really looks different out there. i didn't see his last start, but man, if he can keep this up, he will be very good.
  12. they really make those kids smile for a long time.
  13. Kanye West hates walks. Jesus Walks. I bet Jesus' OBP is through the roof!
  14. The one thing I'm confused by that article is the indication that the 2 Aprils were the only months he could hit in those two seasons-when April each year was only his 2nd best month by a good amount. (July 04, May 05 were his best 2 months). Other than that I agree-like they said, Izturis is an upgrade if it means Cedeno does not play 2nd next year. Otherwise, we'll have a pretty good amount of offense to make up next year from other positions. no where in the article does it say that those are the only good months he's had. i think it's implying that if you get off to a good start in april, your numbers will look better longer.
  15. No, the streak ended last night. So they gave him the day off to rest today. well, that settles that.
  16. anyone know why he isn't in the lineup today for Philadelphia? his streak is still going, right?
  17. why do the pirates always have these players that are real good for one year, and then they are real bad after that? oliver perez comes to mind. aramis did it while in pittsburg. how has zach duke been this year?
  18. Will Carroll appears to be right on. Why would you want a guy who's sporting a line of 410/493/672 at AAA when you can have Izturis? I surely hope he was not one of the prospects.
  19. JH isn't going to let ramirez leave. Now more than ever since he's got his "defensive" MI now. JH will keep ramirez and sign carlos lee, a SP, and hopefully try to improve OF at other positions as well. if that's the case then great. but i really don't think it's going to happen. one, maybe two of the three, but not all three. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. After all, his job DEPENDS on doing these 2-3 things. And he has the money now with Wood and Maddux's money. the only problem with that is that i can guarantee that the payroll will be cut back to somewhere between 85-90m, and nothing higher than 90m. carlos lee and barry zito as free agents, while re-upping Aram is going to be tough with those parameters.

  21. let's speculate for a moment. ramirez leaves. your infield is ? at 3B, Izturis SS, Cedeno 2B, Lee 1B your outfield is ? in LF, Pierre CF and Jones in Right. it is quite possible they score no more than 3 runs in a single game, and the times they score three is when Lee has multi-HR games. the ship is not going in the right direction.
  22. I respect him for taking the high road, but it must be killing him. he didn't want to leave. as much crap as todd has had to deal with, he still wants to be a cub. this is a shame.
