plus he has been hitting leftys, to the tune of .388/.417/.642 ... very impressive. though it has been said a million times before: just about any minor league player can come up to the bigs and put up those kind of numbers in a month of major league action. but here's to optimism!

I'll help you out, Lou - he's not a good baseball player. I don't know about you guys, but I've got a feeling Jacque is going to have some nasty things to say about the organization on his way out. i really don't think so. the guy can't even do more than shrug his shoulders after striking out, so i doubt he can muster the energy to speak in audible tones, let alone in a spiteful manner.

That's funny. I do the same stuff. I have conversations in my head to prepare myself for people I know I'm going to see. I think I'm half nuts. If this thread points out that a lot of people do this, it will take a huuuuge load off my mind. maybe not normal, but more average than people probably give it credit. i do it, too, but sometimes i will imagine these lavish arguments... that's probably the weird part.

I shudder to think of how many wide open opportunities Beasley would miss if he was converted to striker full time. lol. man, at times america looked horrible. they really should have won 5-1 or 5-2. and what i didn't expect was all the acting mexico was doing, like they knew they would end up being the butt of jokes after losing to usa, and you could tell they were getting salty as hell towards the end. america just makes horrible passes. they are slow and bad dribblers. when mexico was on, they made usa look foolish when dribbling towards the goal. there was one point where mexico would have scored if #9 hadn't gotten in the way of #2 heading it to the guy who took the shot, because 9 headed it too far in advance, but 2 had the best line for the pass (mexico trying to score, sorry). not a bad game to watch, just not as fun as the real madrid/barcelona buisness earlier. and now henry is with barcelona(!!!), with beckham leaving madrid... so barcelona had better win next year

i remember ba comparing wuertz to lidge (pre-pujols lidge, that is), and if marmol can continue to be so dominate, the end of this bullpen has a chance to be very good for a while. both are relatively young with live arms. let's just hope the next gm doesn't have a stick up his ass for the converted starter fad like hendry, and piniella uses them correctly (though the bullpen is the one part of his in game management that often scares me)... marmol could be as good as any other reliever in baseball very soon.

soccer is just as good a poster as anyone else here, but raisin got my vote. really, two of my top three or four favorites in this one. -

this is why they wanted to trade jacque before tonight's game. so we would have an extra long reliever during this marquis start. sadly, things aren't moving quickly enough on that front.

Buehrle grew up a Cards fan, and they will need SP. I think it's a near lock he's a Card in 08' if he doesn't sign with the team that trades for him. i don't know if buehrle could pass the money boston will offer over stl. i know he's always wanted to be a cardinal, but boston can probably offer at least 10 mil more... -
