  1. so did anyone else watch/have interest in the real madrid/barcelona games on sunday, or was that just me? just as exciting (though depressing in the end) a day of sports for me as any of recent time.
  2. Bingo! You're the best caller of the show. End of story, no deal. Not so fast. It really depends on what salaries the Reds are willing to take back, and what the teams decide on the deferred money issue. For example, if Hendry could trade a subset of players, whose 2008 contracts offset Griffey's 2008 salary, I don't think the Trib would stand in his way. but who would we be talking about, then? seems like it would have to be several...
  3. like brian, voted soccer.
  4. Did you mean to say reputable? And from what I've heard/read, there have been no sources of Griffey to the Cubs that I know about. Did find these articles, though, relevant or not: link
  5. never posted in this thread, kind of suprising. imo, mls sucks. it's the slowest, most boring soccer i have seen. after watching the barcelona/real madrid fiasco over the weekend, then trying to watch real salt lake or something is just a big let down. the goals scored are pitiful too often, and the goalies make it look easy. the umpires don't know what to call a lot of times, etc etc... with that said, american soccer will be good before too long. also, someone was telling me that zidane is also coming to mls. at least it sounds like they are getting serious about being taken serious. because landon donavan? hahahahahahaha
  6. i just don't understand. how can a team missing their ace starter, starting catcher, centerfielder, shortstop, another starting pitcher (though whether he is a true starter is another argument altogether), and have at least one relief pitcher who isn't coming back can STILL be only a half game behind a cubs team that has stayed relatively healthy. it blows my mind.
  7. so, is this just rumor bin pap or are there refutable people saying this as well? i just can't imagine the trib allowing hendry to tie up a bunch more money like that over the next couple years. obviously the reds are going to have to chip in... but still. and then what happens with floyd? the cubs are in a pretty good position, trade-wise right now, future payroll notwithstanding. some pretty solid bargaining chips.
  8. i wish i could take it back and give it to you for this quote alone. :D
  9. eyre. because loogys don't really exist, and neither should he.
  10. vh1 band to watch... what more need i say?
  11. Before last night, we had the worst batting average (.233 or something close) with bases loaded. I reiterate --- the Cubs choke in pressure situations!! iirc, pat said last night that since april it is around .130
  12. this has been the most embarrassing season of my career as a cub fan.
  13. no hits in the inning and the bases are loaded with one run already in and only one out. HAHAHAHAHAHA
  14. haha, izturis can't even hit weaver. :(
  15. 2 out of 3 from a seattle team that had won 8 straight coming in would be key, esp with our struggles at home.
  16. More bad news: The Brew Crew is spanking the Tigers. 4-0 isn't exactly spanking. detroit is a good team, i shall hold out hope. :)
  17. BeerHere because bob sanders called me 'the guy with the pot smoker avatar' and i don't do drugs.
