  1. yeah, this team only gets exciting as sellers. though i don't really trust hendry to pick up a good amount of spects for dealable ML parts
  2. i'm just kinda excited to watch him play. hopefully they let him play, but even if not Hendry is gone after this year, and maybe Ricketts will bring in a GM who knows what he's doing.
  3. Deck McGuire is a real guy? I thought he was just an OOTP character.
  4. most red sox prospects hit a wall comparatively moving from A to AA. A is a big time hitters park and AA is the complete opposite. Anderson is still a very good prospect
  5. I didn't read your whole post, but if you are seriously saying that the Cubs could acquire Lars Anderson for Ryan Theriot, you are either seriously underrating Epstein or overrating Hendry. That is not happening. The Red Sox value actual talent, not mediocre defenders/on base percentage guys.
  6. man nsbb on the day the cubs got nomar was so nuts. i'm not sure another deadline deal will ever match it
  7. This isn't a bad idea, either. Like how soccer works in Europe. Really, something has to be done for some of these clubs to have enough incentive for them to win. That teams rich in history like Pittsburgh and Cincinnati can meander around lost for what seems like decades is fairly telling. Also, really, something has to be done about the DH. That it's in one league and not the other is really stupid. That people still wonder why the AL is so dominant amazes me.
  8. Really, Truffle, if the other teams get mad at decreased revenue, tell them tough [expletive], make a better team and you'll get more money.
  9. welp, here we go again. although this year i'm unusually apathetic, i hope the team is better than i think.
  10. can we have perhaps a stickied thread for different things cubs related popping up on mlb network? i know i, for one, would appreciate it.
  11. Larry, is that your Joe Peppitone jersey? I'ma go get you your jersey, Larry. ... arguing at distant gas pump ... Joe Peppitone in this [expletive]!
  12. Almost everything did go wrong for the Cubs last year, outside of Lee and Lilly. Even with expected bounce-back seasons from a few key guys this team is much worse than it was last year. They are going to struggle to stay around .500 most of the year. However, the season will still be a success because Hendry will be fired as a result. 2011 will be better than 2010.
  13. i would actually like to see game 6 again. i remember being at a bar, and when the bartman play happened the entire packed bar when silent and i yelled, 'that's it! games over, season's done!' some guy in a jersey and all that came up shouting how i wasn't a real fan, and while everyone watched, i said, just wait and see what happens next. it was all my fault, guys.
  14. this team has relied on luck so often it's sickening.
  15. wouldn't it be better if there were a ________ wants to be a Cub thread where we could just insert mediocre player's names/news clippings?
  16. why this is important is beyond me. his number is retired, his plaque will state his time in chicago, and cubs fans know he played here. who cares.
  17. From a BP article on the Red Sox:
  18. Carlos ZambraNO [expletive]
  19. Giving Bradley a black guy would take on a hole new meaning.
  20. Boof Bonser of the Cubs. Seriously though, finally a decent signing this offseason. Unfortunately it's for a backup guy.
  21. anyone make the Cuban/Reds joke in this thread yet?
