  1. That's just not going to happen. I think we are headed to the Liberty Bowl, though there is a wacked out scenario that sends us to the Peach. Screw Alabama and their 6-6 record and coach stalking AD.
  2. There are four or five teams in the SEC that beat ND by 10. There should be no course of events that puts ND in the championship game.
  3. Spurrier just can't help himself.
  4. Bring it on baby. ;) Are you sure Phat Phil wants more of Darth Visor? You guys had more talent last year and we beat you in your house. College Gameday will be in the house as well. Should be a good one. It would be huge for us to get a win. So far we've beaten the teams we were supposed to beat and we've lost to the two highly ranked teams we played.
  5. The Saints are for real to the extent that they are going to be in every game that they play. I think they are a year or two away from being a Conference title contender. The Steelers are capable of playing like that the rest of the season. Whether they will remails to be seen. Their schedule is straight up BRUTAL.
  6. How are you feeling about the game on Sunday. The Steelers have not given me a lot to cheer about.
  7. On Mike and Mike they were also talking about whether they would trade Zambrano for ARod. Greeny said yes, Golic said no.
  8. Boche would be a great addition. He's the first name that I've heard that I'm actually excited about. The comparisons to Dusty are absurd. The only thing those guys have in common is that they both played in the big leagues. I will just refer to BBB's post for all the info anyone might need on this subject.
  9. Do any of those teams have to play anyone good other than USC. I am not impressed at all by Cal after being destroyed by a team from a real conference. That game couldn't have gone any worse for Cal. Even if they lose a close, tough game on the road they would have received some respect. Now everybody will go back to the Tennesssee game. It sucks but I understand why it happens. Regardless of what you say about Oregon beating/losing to Oklahoma, they did play very well against an out of conference opponent from a major conference. That being said, I'm picking Cal to win a high scoring entertaining game. I guess I am an SEC guy. Other than Southern Cal, I just don't have a ton of respect for the so called good teams out west. I also think Southern Cal is looking increasingly suspect.

  11. ...why didn't Newton start the season at QB for SC? He's not bad...Auburn would have accrued a tremendous amount of sacks against a QB with less mobility. The thought was that the offensive line was going to be better than it was. Mitchell was good enough for us to win against Miss. St. After the Georgia debacle Spurrier realized that the O-line was terrible and mobility was paramount. Newton has been very impressive with his arm as well. He's a great kid who LOVES when the lights come on. I am encouraged going forward.
  12. I think last night proved that Steve Spurrier is one of the best coaches in college football. Auburn had a substantial talent advantage over us and we were a dropped pass away from tying the game. Give Auburn credit for blitzing Newton late and for making the plays on Rice. I don't believe in moral victories, but the effort of our team bodes well for the rest of the season.
  13. Payroll is not the problem. The Cubs spend enough money to win. They just don't spend it wisely.
  14. Nothing better than watching my favorite team blow the game while nursing the world's worst hangover in the lounge at Bally's in Vegas. Your boys look sharp Rocket. Now if they can only stay out of the hospital and the penitentiary, you might have a deep playoff run to enjoy.
  15. One of my favorite parts of the Steelers Super Bowl Champions DVD is where they show the Bengals celebrating after beating the Steelers in Pittsburgh. They're talking copious amounts of trash to the fans, T.J. Houshmfaidhrfad;lfheh is polishing his cleats with a terrible towel, they are doing that ridiculous Who Dey crap, you get the idea. Then we get to the playoff game highlights, and you know the rest. I think Cincy is still a year or two away, though they have a chance to put the Steelers in an early 1-2 hole. I'll be watching this game in Las Vegas, as I am heading there tomorrow. if i admit that the who dey crap is ridiculous, you have to admit the terrible towel is ridiculous. Can't do it. Myron Cope is a Pittsburgh legend and to make such an admission is to throw him under the bus. However, I will refrain from making any more negative Who Dey comments. Deal? You can if you want to, I agree that who dey is dumb. Just like I think the whole right field bleachers vs. left field bleachers is dumb. I'd rather you make fun of who dey than the actual team. I would make fun of the Bengals themselves, but since they were so supportive of my fellow lawyers this offseason, I shall refrain.

If that doesn't happen, I'm pretty sure the outcome of that game would have been very different. I can't stand how some people (I'm not saying you) use the playoffs to legitimize teams that happen to win in a one-and-done situation. They also got lucky in the Colts game. The Colts played about as poorly as they could've, and it still took a miracle tackle by Big Ben for them to win. Sure, the Steelers were good last year and took advantage of their opportunities, but there were better teams in the NFL. The Bengals were one of them. I won't disagree that there were better teams, I will not agree that the Bengals were one of them. I think its ludicrous to definitively say who would have won the game when Palmer went out on the second play of the game. You have no idea how that game would have turned out and neither do I. Did it guarantee a Steeler victory? Sure. But you can't say that if it hadn't happened a Bengal victory was assured. As for the Indy game, the Steelers punched them in the mouth all day. Its easy to say that a team you think was better played poorly instead of giving the Steelers credit for forcing the issue. The great Peyton Manning had no idea where the blitz was coming from and the defenses were disguised perfectly. You cite "the tackle" as the reason they won, but what about the HORRENDOUS call on the Polamalu interception? The only reason the Colts were in that game at all because of one costly Pittsburgh mistake and a brutal call by the officials. Also, in the history of sports, the playoffs have decided who is legitimate and who isn't. They are the whole reason that you play the games. The Steelers would not have been a sixth seed if they hadn't had to start Tommy Maddox in two games. He single-handedly gave away the game against Jacksonville last year.
  18. I agree, I can smell upset here. If the game was in Jacksonville, maybe. But not in Indy. Last year in Indy, Peyton threw for only 122 yards. The running game was solid, but without Edge there, I don't know how successful they will be running the ball. Their secondary is loaded with big (good tackling..)hitters who are gonna frustrate the finesse receivers all day. Early line has Indy -7. That's a gutsy call after they just shutout the Steelers. Now the Jags gotta score some points :D The Steeler D the Jags faced on Monday was better than the one they'll see from Indy on Sunday.

  20. I predict the Tigers will win the game. Clever. ;) Should be a great game. I like Auburn in a squeaker.
  21. Not that he necessarily blew direct scoring chances as much as him throwing two CRIPPLING interceptions in their own territory late in the game, one of which was returned for a touchdown.
  22. GAAAAAAMMMMMMMMMEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE.... ....COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOCKS!!!!
  23. He started off ok. He certainly went downhill late. Dante always does that. I used to be a big time Viking fan for many years and I never saw why everyone thought he was so good. If you give any QB the weapons he had in Minny they would have been studs too. McNabb has Owens for 1 year and he's in the Super Bowl. As I've always thought...he is a poor reader of defenses. You can count on Daunte to make one or two bonehead throws per game. Against a defense like Pittsburgh's, you just can't do that. Miami does not have the offense to overcome mistakes like that.
  24. Vance, what did I tell you? ;) The boys in black certainly made it a bit more difficult than they had too. The Steelers start and end with their Defense. That's how Charlie Batch is 3-0 as a starter in the last two seasons, although I thought he played very well last night. Both touchdown passes (excluding Miller's) were really nice throws.
  25. I don't think a Charlie Batch led team will get past a much improved Miami team tonight. We'll see. I have the defending champs taking the loss tonight. I think the Steeler D will be enough. The key will be if we can run the ball. Charlie isn't going to be asked to do too much. I agree that Miami is an up and coming team and I think will make the playoffs. My black and gold colored glasses won't allow me to believe they will lose the opener. I cannot wait for kickoff. Last Thursday was great for my Gamecocks, hopefully tonight will be great for the Steelers.
