  1. I agree with XZero. I think Prior has difficulty determining for himself the difference between, so eloquently stated by James Caan in The Program, "being hurt, and being injured." He doesn't seem to know what kind of pain to pitch through and which kind not to. Maybe I wouldn't either, but I believe it causes a lot of his delays. I know two of his injuries were freak, but these constant delays to start the season speak to this potentially being a problem.
  2. I think its ok to question Barrett's defensive abilities. I do think its kinda ridiculous to call him the worst defensive catcher that someone has ever seen, unless of course today is the only game he's ever watched.
  3. 6 runs is pretty good for the offense. Not worried about the Offense I'm worried about the sloppy defense play. This game was lost by lousy pitching from Rusch and Williams. Without Wood, Prior and Miller, its going to be a long year.
  4. What more do you want him to do? The replay showed Freel wasn't more than a couple steps away from the base, and had to move back to get there. Ronny's throw was a bullet too. He had all day. He barely peaked over there before unloading. That's what more I'd want.
  5. Sorry TT, that was a crappy job of holding the runner by Cedeno.
  6. This has all the makings of a heartbreaker. Great comeback only to fall short. I guess I missed baseball.
  7. Lets hurry up and get that extension signed for the man who brought us all this.
  8. Normally I hate three man booths, but I think the radio team would greatly benefit from a real color man in with Hughes and the cheerleader. I don't care if its blasphemy: Ron Santo is a horrible broadcaster. He is painful to listen to and if it wasn't for Pat Hughes, there'd be a whole lot of people not listening.
  9. I usually don't because I think someone will (and usually does) beat me to it. Nice to get the scoop for once.
  10. Two Pitchers, Two Outlooks Nice little read on the two guys. Didn't see it posted elsewhere.
  11. What kind of house would she be living in if her old man wasn't a douchebag?
  12. Plus what the mother would make at her job, she is obviously working if there is daycare involved. Remember, this is child support and not spousal maintenance we are talking about, they were never married so I don't think there is anykind of alimony, although I am sure the mother spent a chunk of the money on herself, because if the money was just used for the daughter's benefit, there should be plenty of money for her school, car, computer, her own house, etc...... Depends on how the money is used. If the money is used to buy a nicer house in a better neighborhood so that the child is safer and can attend better schools then why not.
  13. She's his kid. She's entitled to the things that daughters of rich ass fathers get. She should have a nice ride and a college education. If she was Randy's daughter with his wife she'd be getting all that stuff. Why should she get the shaft because her Dad is worthless and a bitter redass. I hope she gets every penny she can from that miserable bastard. Apparently Randy Johnson attended the Larry Bird-Karl Malone school of illegitimate parenting.
  14. Though born in Chicago, I grew up in Pittsburgh and Van Slyke lived in the same condo complex as my grandma. What a great dude he was. As for Andy Hawkins, there's not a better guy around. Plus, he let me marry his first born. ;)
  15. 1. Andy Hawkins 2. Mark Grace 3. Tony Gwynn 4. Ryne Sandberg 5. Andy Van Slyke
  16. Dude is gonna need to raise a LOT more money to cover his medical costs.
  17. A reasonable look? So not seeing them at all and only hearing about them third hand and that being disputed itself is a reasonable look? Does anybody here actually know what it says on Anderson's computer and what is on the calendar? Barry's lawyers have likely seen all these things. If any of this really wasn't true, Barry's lawyers would be knocking each other down to get to the courthouse to file a libel lawsuit. When Bo Jackson was accused, he sued so fast heads spun. He got an apology and a retraction within a week. You can talk all you want about evidence. If it was weak, or worse, fraudulent, there'd be a suit.
  18. Kerry looks like he ate Prior.
  19. I thought Hairston was a decent OBP guy who knew how to take pitches? I, like most, prefer Walker, but I don't think Hairston would be the worst thing to ever happen.
  20. Sammy was a sensational ball player. Someone listed his records, but they forgot to add that he was, in my opinion, the most sensitive athlete I've ever seen. I don't buy into the notion that he was a bad person. His charity work should say enough about him as a person. His ego and his over-sensitivity made me dislike him. A lot. My impression of him was that it was all about him. He always said that showmanship was for the fans. But I think that wasn't totally honest. He needed the crowd to love him. Like I said, he was a great player, but I don't have to worship at his altar. I doubt highly his story about the corked bat. I think he used it to try and get back in the groove when, at the time, he couldn't catch up to a decent fastball. I doubt he used them for a long period of time and I also doubt that he used them to attain many (or even any) of his homeruns. The world may never know whether he used steroids, but to wipe away any speculation because he never got caught is naive. I think speculation, given his accomplishments, body changes and the era, is reasonable.
  21. Couldn't agree with you more, abuck. I know this ending saddens many Cub fans, but I won't be joining the pity party. His considerable skills were matched only by a considerable ego and considerable questions about the legitimacy of his HOF numbers and the body that produced them. Adios, Sammy. No one will miss you more than, well, you.
  22. **** OL Hutch Eckerson just announced his commitment to play for Steve Spurrier and the University of South Carolina. We have now signed 4 **** OL's with Daron Rose's announcement still to come (though I think he'll be attending Free Shoes University). Also, when discussing how he has received commitments from 3 Alabama HS kids, Spurrier said... "We were never able to get kids out of Alabama when I was at Florida. Come to find out the scholarships they were offering were worth a lot more than ours."
  23. Woo Hoo is right! I still have my #80 jersey too. :-k It isn't that far from Los Angeles to where you're at. If I can only talk my fiancee into cancelling her family/superbowl bar-b-cue. Unfortunately, I had to talk her into having it so I kind of doubt it. Ah well, we'll see. My wife just signed my permission slip so I am headed to Pittsburgh to watch the big game. I can't wait.
  24. I'm starting to feel the same way. I've been going to the same Super Bowl party for several years, and I'm probably going to again, but right now I just want to sit 12 inches from my TV at home, with nobody else there, and concentrate fully. I keep having this thought of everyone else critiquing commercials and making fun of the halftime show and all of the other stuff I usually do, except this year when that happens I might explode. Its going to be almost unbearable. I don't think I can stand much more after the Indy game. I get that feeing in the pit of my stomach just thinking about all those things. I love this team more than any other Steeler team in my lifetime. What a great group. They'd better finish it off. Cowher needs it and so does the town.
