  1. Luis Rivas has two home runs. What....the.....heck? While I do like Luis (ex-Fort Wayne Wizard) it is pretty damn ridiculous to let him hit two. ](*,)
  2. What about it don't you buy? In theory it makes sense. In reality, I'd rather let Wuertz hit than take DLee out of a game. It's not like Hank White is some tremendous bat. If Wuertz has to bat with runners on, he can bunt which is what Blanco ended up doing anyways. If nobody is on base, oh well. I'd have rather walked Bay to get to the pitcher. Maybe it's dangerous, I mean Eyre being Eyre he could have walked the stupid pitcher to lose the game. I just don't believe in double switching out one of your best hitters.
  3. Meh, I still don't buy what Len is selling in his discussion of the double switch involving Lee.
  4. Wait Len & Bob say it isn't a HR? I don't know anymore, I'm lost. If the ball hits the top of the fence, isn't that a HR? Only if it bounces over the fence and out of the field of play Or if there's one of those neat yellow lines on top of the wall. That is what I was thinking of. So if the Pirates had a yellow line on that wall, it would have been HR due to different ground rules? I was just thinking I know I've seen home runs that hit a certain point on a wall and bounced back but were still considered home runs.

  6. I agree. Lou must be on a Memorial Day weekend bender.
  7. It was a valid HR call based on the replay WGN just picked up from the Pirates cameras.
  8. Japanese players are lacking in the "grit" category I guess. :-k
  9. I think most of us realize the Cubs are a good baseball team but it's just that they can be a lot better. The starting rotation still seems a bit thin and shaky after Zambrano and Dempster...although Lilly seems to be pitching a bit better. Wood has to stop hitting batters in save situations. The offense has been great but it would still be nice to solidify the CF situation and not have Reed Johnson batting 5th (???) and playing more than he should. The goal right now should be getting to the World Series and taking a crack at winning the thing. There is enough talent on this team to get that done but we've still got some holes to fill to really solidify the thing. That and Lou's bizarre over-managing makes me concerned that he will do something really dumb to cost us in the postseason.
  10. May as well bat Theriot in the cleanup slot too.
  11. While I won't call Wood a "sham closer" it is a bit early in the season to record 4 blown saves. But do I think it's better to keep Marmol in his current role than move Carlos to closer. Wood needs to stop putting guys on base.
  12. Walking the bases loaded would be awesome.
  13. It's really a shame that Fukudome isn't a more productive offensive player.
  14. Nevermind, Bob Brenly broke it down for me.
  15. How did Lee not get to 3rd base there?
  16. according to his facebook account he is an IU Alum '07. I think he will probably be gone too. I don't see Crawford going anywhere.
  17. Fukudome's overall offensive production looks just fine to me.
  18. It is so awesome seeing a .213 hitter in either the 1 or 2 slot in the lineup almost every night.
  19. Shawn Estes carried a no-hitter into the 5th inning tonight before Hairston Jr finally singled.
