  1. Am I crazy? Didn't that land in the back of the bleachers? Yeah, and then it bounced onto the street after the fans failed to make the catch. Not a true Waveland Avenue shot but I'll take it. 8-)
  2. How can you not bash him for that? I never said you can't bash him for that. I said it was pretty bad. It's a small group of people that I'm referencing there.
  3. Here comes the Soriano bashing brigade......but yeah, that was pretty awful though.
  4. Good job taking some pitches Theriot. And a single to right.
  5. Nice job Demp! Now he can settle down and mow 'em down. Time for batting practice off Fat Glendon. \:D/
  6. Bobby & Stan might have butchered the 7th inning stretch by singing at light speed but seriously, I enjoyed listening to Bobby Hull during the bottom of the 7th inning. The guy seems like a true blue Chicago fan, heck he watched the Bears win a NFL title in frigid temps at Wrigley Field back in the day. I can respect that.
  7. Wood has 13 saves. The Cubs are 13 games above .500. Strange, very strange. This sham must end now! :stickman:
  8. The last time that I checked the score at work, it was 8-1 Colorado. On the drive home from work I turned on WGN 720 just in time to hear the DP in the top of the 9th inning. I noticed that Ron and Pat sounded REALLY excited about the DP and I felt kind of confused....I was thinking they couldn't be that excited if the game was still a blowout. They had not mentioned the score of the game at that point. Then the next out was recorded and I hear Pat say Cubs Win....zomg wtf lol. \:D/ It was just uber cool to randomly tune in during the final 3 outs and not even realize the score or the inning. Coincidentally, I had an email when I got home about 2 free days of MLB-TV premium so I'm watching the replay of the game right now. Awesomeness!
  9. I don't know about that. The two year run of 29-29 under Mike Davis seemed pretty terrible to me.
  10. That is great. It's history though. I guess I could sit around and lose sleep over who the Bears could have drafted instead of Cade McNown, Curtis Enis, Stan Thomas, David Terrell, etc but what is the point? To each his own I guess. I've already seen a lifetime of woulda, coulda, shoulda scenarios for all of my teams but it's just not worth it to bang my head into the same brick wall over it. It just seems like some fans live for misery and just love being able to have the opportunity to harp on the same broken record 1 million times. I don't get it, but maybe that is just me.
  11. Sure, theres no salary cap, but if we end up with an owner without the deep pockets of the Trib, dont expect to see any big signings for a very, very long time. If that happens, we will have issues in the future regardless of the Soriano contract unless we hire the next Billy Beane. Not necessarily. We just have to hire a GM that doesn't throw money at all his problems and worry about the consequences later. Regardless, if we hire a smart GM then the Cubs franchise is not doomed because of Soriano's contract. If we hire a dumb GM then it don't matter, we are screwed anyways. I just don't see the point in continuing to be hung up on $136 million.

  13. I agree, Soriano has never played on winning teams.
  14. The "136 million" references are getting pretty old. It is basically a sunk cost at this point and there is no salary cap. Quit looking for reasons to be miserable. ](*,)
  15. If Ted Lilly didn't allow Luis Rivas to hit that 2nd HR......
  16. Yeah, in the long run, it's not that big. But we're overreacting because we just had 2 extra-inning losses to a cupcake team we won't play again until August. And we were a blown HR call (although Rivas might've scored anyway) in the 1st or one easy fly ball catch in the 9th from winning. But really, we are still 8 games over. We should be fine if we can take care of bussiness in September. Let's just hope the Cards lose again. They are tied 1-1 now. Whether this loss is big or not, we won't really know until September. If it is a tight division and/or wild card race in the final week then it could loom rather large. Every loss snatched from the jaws of victory counts equally in the end.
  17. The Cubs franchise should be contracted.
  18. Well they just showed Wood getting loose?
