  1. Soto isn't much better than Bown, and Jones is probably better than Pagan. Izturis blows, but then again so do all our other SS. I'd have put Fontenot at short since Lilly is a fly ball pitcher. And you know this from 1 start?
  2. Damnit, not gettting hopes up, not getting hopes up, not getting hopes up, not getting hopes up.....
  3. NBA Championship here we come! Joe Smith is basically Pj Brown. Bulls still need a big man
  4. Yea you are right, heaven forbid there is an actual discussion about something baseball related in the baseball discussions part of the forum. So would you like to tell everybody what it is ok to discuss?
  5. I would take Sorianos contract everyday of the week and twice on Sundays, over this deal for Ichiro. At least when Sorianos speed starts going away, he can still hit for power, where as when Ichiros speed goes, Ichiro becomes an averager ballplayer. His entire game is based on speed, which is usually one of the first things to go as you age.
  6. Larussa could care less who won last night, I mean home field advantage isnt going to mean squat to him. Pujols not seeing the field after Soriano made it a 1 run game is ridiculous, Larussa is a MORAN!
  7. Steve Stone was on WSCR today, saying ARod is opting out. Not sure where he got his info, but he wasnt saying might, he said its for sure. Also said both Chicago teams would be at the front of the line.
  8. LMAO umm I think you forgot to say who was pitching. Greg Maddux enough said Just about every throw by Barret has been there tonight but with Maddux the catcher has no chance. Oh and Barret had a single tonight, I wish we could say that about our own catchers
  9. Barret with the single, thats definatly not a Koyie Hill
  10. If you arrive at a point where you would make the switch, youre basically opting for someone who could be good vs someone you know is bad. Thats where one is at when they are ready to make such a decision. Its not bad to have options. Right its not bad to have options thats what the minor leagues are for. However from your original post, you are basically advocating giving somebody a spot start or 2 to see this option, which is absurd. You dont take starts away from someobdy, just to give a kid a spot start or 2, while you are in a race. If somebody gets hurt, then by all means, move Gallagher, Guzman, whoever into the rotation and see what they can do. You seem to be really wrestling with my original post. Ive cited it for the benefit of the discussion. Anyway, no, its conceivable to let one of the young guys start during a stretch of games situated closely together or even if not, you can just give everyone an extra day between starts. Not a big deal considering the dividends it can pay in the long run. And Im not as grim about their chances as you are. I feel like Marquis is going to struggle in half of his starts now...and that goes for Rich Hill too. Thats a coin flip so why not cultivate options while giving guys an extra day of rest? Im not struggling with anything in your post. Teams that are contending dont just give spot starts here and there. Its that simple. And really what will 1 spot start from Gallagher tell you? Numerous rookie pitchers have made a spot start and looked like Cy Young(Ryan O'Malley) and then go on to be nothing special.
  11. I don't think that will be for long. It seems to me pretty likely at this point that when Petrick is available to come back that Pie will be the position player demoted in order to get back to 12 pitchers. But, but Pie is here to stay! Once again the Cubs organization will say one thing, and do the complete opposite. color me not surprised. This is driven by the fact that the Jones trade was sh*t canned and Hendry can no longer give Jones away. Sam Zell is a new variable that they now have to consider and getting rid of Jones is probably no longer as possible as it once was. Who cares if the Jones trade was nixed. The odds of Jones improving greatly are very slim, where as Pie is a kid and is going to struggle, but he has made the adjustments at every single level he has played. But this team wont give Pie the chance to make the adjustment, and continue to sit him on the bench"working on his swing". Let the kid play and see if he can make the adjustments, or send him down to let him play.

  13. Votto didnt think so lol
  14. Soto sucks! guess we know why he hasnt been called up
  15. Wow I thought that was a pop up and it just kept goin and goin
  16. That escalator clause and his 10/5 rights will make trading him next to impossible, imo. Did they give him the escalator clause? I thought the Sox said no to that.
  17. Joba is Native American, probably got it from there? Justin Upton is a stud. Ah ok makes a lil more sense then. And yes Upton wow. Although Santos looked filthy against the 1st guy he faced.
  18. I don't think he'll be traded. I do think Contreras is as good as gone. I think Contreras is gone before july 31, but Ill be surprised if Buerhrle reaches 10-5 while a White Sox
  19. Well it could really suck if the Yanks start developing their own once again. They do that, along with buying the top free agents, that could be scary. On an unrelated note, who the hell names their kid Joba?

  21. So is this Chamberlain a top tier guy for they Yanks? when in the hell did they Yanks get minor leaguers worth a damn.
  22. Wow Buehrle caved. He must have really really wanted to stay in Chicago. Odds of him being traded within 2 years of this deal? Ill say 85%
