  1. Oooof. If only he could throw strikes..
  2. I think that’s what this is about. In the upcoming moves, it gives the cubs the option of walking away(or at least the ability to bluff that they’ll walk away) from a variety of tables both when getting rid of Russell and when seeking someone to replace him.
  3. I'm sure the Phillies will be glad to take on our bad contracts to assist us in signing Harper. If they want to help us collude they will. Otherwise, we should go over the top luxury tax threshold.
  4. I can recommend someone.
  5. I am uncomfortable with the silence. Not particularly on this issue, just in general. Don't worry, I'm seeing someone about it. The fact that I am now longing for pizza talk was my final clue. Any chance anything happens at the winter meetings?
  6. Not a super exciting profile. His best tool is his arm and apparently scouts aren't impressed with his bat. So he's David Ross? Is he also an awful teammate?
  7. This is because Cole convinced them to take analytics seriously. Shaddup Cole!
  8. are we talking about this elsewhere? any interest?
  9. Machado will really be a fan favorite Yeah, not a fit in that town. possible spin, "Yadi is going to teach him to hustle."
  10. Hey, I agree completely FWIW. My honest guess is IF Ricketts has limited payroll, it's because of an uncertain TV deal that'll eventually work out just fine and shouldn't affect money available for Bryce. I am very interested to see if any team jumps past 246 before the next CBA. If not, collusion becomes an extremely legit reality. Because teams are currently making money to where the oow end of the tax SHOULD be sitting at 275. And owners staying under 246 is to help them in the next round of CBA talks. Hopefully we're just laying low. If we’re colluding, Philly needs to help us offload Heyward’s contract and get Bryce. If you collude, everyone needs to collude together, or there’s no beepnefit to colluding, If not, we should take our collusion ball and go home, and sign Bryce anyway.
  11. Spahn, Sein, and some other guy.
  12. [bbvideo=560,315] [/bbvideo]
  13. I may have to leave NSB for awhile. I can’t stomach pictures of Imo’s.
  14. You guys out of distracting topics?
  15. Mishawaka Ice Elephants
  16. Is it possible the Indians overvalue Schwarber due to his perceved superhuman presence in the 2016 WS? Where are they on The Cole/Rangers spectrum of front office R&D?
  17. You are all monsters for adding four pages to this thread today.
  18. Based on trading Bryant though. I can see the “trade your elite third baseman for prospects and eat it to” logic, but I don’t like the idea of trading Bryant after what was by far his worst season, and I don’t like Machado over Bryant going forward. Bryant at less money, shorter term > Machado + prospects. Also, the Cubs aren’t trading Bryant, so nothing to see here.
  19. SHUT YOUR MOUTH COLE!
  20. Not too many players, just too few teams. Why complicate matters when we can get rid of Chatwood, Duensing, and Kintzler in one trade while picking up a #5 starter, a solid lefty, and a speedy utility guy without spending any more of PTR money. Just a bow to your legendary three team trade proposals of yesteryear.
  21. OK, this is exactly what I'm talking about, but whatever I'm not gonna spend all offseason having this argument. We need Bryce Harper because he's awesome and figuring out what he's worth or how we get him is for the nerds to deal with. I thought we were the nerds?
  22. Am I understanding this right that you are hopeful we could just trade them Chatwood, Darvish or perhaps Heyward to them for nothing? Despite the reasons you gave why they would, why in the world they take on any of those contracts for those players? Because cubs eat half of contract, Astros dip the guys throwing hand in their patented molasses and horse bone mixture and Boom! Cheap cy young.
  23. Head on over to the anniversary thread. You'll be happy again.
  24. Your home runs uber alles campaign is going to some strange places. Wherever will an offense with Bryant, Rizzo, Baez, Schwarber, and Contreras find power? They were 11th in the NL in home runs last year with all those boys on the roster. But remove the Chili powder (the opposite of pixie dust) and the whole thing is much more dongerific, right?
